It’s quite common to see advertisements for small 10cm (4″) speakers.
But what are their characteristics, sound quality and what do they generally look like? This type has very low sound quality, In this regard, when buying a speaker with a diagonal of 10 cm, it is advisable to equip the speaker system with additional bass support.This can be standard mid-bass speakers, which are best installed in front of the cabin.0003
The naturally small speaker is significantly cheaper than other car speakers. But to build high-quality sound in a car, saving is not justified, because buying additional midbass, the total cost of the audio system will be significantly higher than buying full-fledged speakers with a diagonal of 16.5 cm. An ordinary three-component acoustics with a built-in specialized midrange can become an analogue of the “10 cm speaker + midbass” combination. . The magnet system is quite large by the standards of 6.5-inch speakers, but the speaker’s mounting depth of 69 mm allows you to easily install the Magnum MBS-6.5C in almost any car.
The 1″ voice coil is a popular solution for loudspeakers. High sensitivity allows you to connect acoustics to the built-in amplifier of the radio, but all its capabilities are revealed when connected to a full-fledged car amplifier – the sound will be more powerful, but at the same time light, clear and detailed.
The Magnum MBS-6.5C uses silk dome tweeters with a diameter of 20 mm. An aperture body is located under the fixed grid in each tweeter. It serves to expand the radiation pattern – improves the sound at high frequencies when the tweeters are set at an angle to the listeners.
Tweeters are designed to fine-tune direction after installation.
There can be several options for the installation itself – the kit includes mounting elements for mortise installation and for installation on a plane.
Crossovers are compact and can be placed almost anywhere. For example, under the dashboard (if the tweeters will be installed on the panel or in the racks) or in the doors (if they will be installed in the corners of the mirrors).

Speakers ideal for door mounting. Sufficiently low resonant frequency and total quality factor slightly above the classical 0.7 allow them to work confidently at the lower end of the range, giving unexpectedly tight and juicy bass. This was confirmed when listening and is clearly seen on the measured frequency response of the mid-bass speaker:

Mi bass speakers installed in doors are usually visible to listeners from significant angles . In this position, a smooth roll-off is provided at the upper end of their frequency operating range, and higher in frequency, they smoothly “pass the baton” to the tweeters.

When they are turned, the radiation efficiency drops slightly, which can be additionally used to adjust the sound.
For example, if you install the tweeters so that each of them is directed to the headrest of the adjacent seat or approximately to the center of the opposite side window, then the near one will be visible to the listener at a slightly larger angle, which means it will be heard a little quieter than the far one. Thus, it will be possible to create an optimal volume balance for both the driver and the passenger at the same time. This will be able to form not just a high, but also a relatively uniform sound stage – when the sound will not be “tied” to the near speakers, but will be formed in the space between the left and right speakers.
Conclusions
At a very low price, the Magnum MBS-6.5C allows you to get a very interesting sound in the car – with rich vocals, clear sounds of instruments and, which is also important, unexpectedly rich and weighty bass. It is quite possible that with these acoustics you will save on a subwoofer, and if you want more bass, then you will not be limited in any way when choosing a suitable model.
