Wall Connector Features

Speed

Wall Connector is compatible with Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y and is capable of providing up to 44 miles of range per hour of charge, with up to 11.5 kW / 48 amp output, depending on model.

Convenience

Wall Connector can adapt to most home electrical systems, with customizable power levels on a range of circuit breakers. This versatility allows installation in most homes, apartments, condos and workplaces. The lightweight 24-foot (7.3 meter) cable allows the Mobile Connector to be left in the car.

Connectivity

Connecting the Wall Connector to a local Wi-Fi network enables it to receive over-the-air firmware updates, remote diagnostics access and usage data tracking capability. Firmware updates will be automatically sent to the Wall Connector to improve the user experience and introduce new features.

Power Sharing

Power sharing is ideal for households that need to charge more than one Tesla at the same time, but may not have enough power for multiple electrical circuits. This functionality allows up to six Wall Connectors to share power from one circuit while still allowing your vehicles to receive a sufficient charge.

Access Control

Charging Access Control gives you full control over which cars are allowed to charge with your Wall Connector. You can restrict charging access directly through the commissioning wizard without having to resort to a physical locking device.

Indoor/Outdoor Compatible

Wall Connector’s lightweight design allows for versatile, indoor or outdoor mounting.

Power sharing with multiple Wall Connectors

Up to four Tesla Wall Connectors can be linked together to intelligently share power. This functionality is beneficial for homes or commercial locations that need to charge more than one Tesla at the same time, but may not have enough power for multiple electrical circuits.

Higher amperage installations are recommended (but not required) when power sharing to maximize the amount of power split between each car when charging.

Should I buy a Tesla wall connector?

Home Articles Should I Buy a Tesla Wall Connector?

The

Tesla Wall Connector is the home charging solution for anyone who wants to plug their electric car into the grid overnight and meet a fully charged car the next day, but is it worth it? Owning an electric car is different from owning a gasoline car in several ways. New EV owners must adapt to the habit of charging their vehicles in minutes or hours depending on the level of charge.

Tesla electric vehicles are among the most efficient options on the market today. In addition to entering the electric vehicle market long before most automakers, its vehicles are well engineered to provide a unique driving experience. With the Tesla EV, especially with the Long Range options, range worries are long forgotten. Due to its widespread popularity, Tesla is facing increased demand for its products. This forced him to make difficult decisions, such as temporarily closing orders for the Model 3 Long Range in 2022. Despite this, the Tesla EV brand enjoys worldwide attention.

Home charging is probably the best way to increase the range of an electric car. Drivers can connect as much time as required by their schedule. The Tesla wall connector is one of the most popular home chargers besides Electrify America’s HomeStation and Mercedes-Benz’s Wallbox. Although it is designed for Tesla electric vehicles, owners of electric vehicles from other manufacturers can also use it with an adapter. Tesla says it sells for $400 a unit. This is a wall connector ideal for homes, hospitality facilities and workplaces. Alternatively, Tesla owners can use a mobile home charging socket, but this is no longer included with an electric vehicle.

Compatible with all Tesla models, users can look forward to a range increase of up to 44 mph with 11.5 kW of power. However, the exact output may vary depending on the model. The connector is suitable for most household electrical systems. The charger is connected to the Internet, which means that it can connect to a Wi-Fi network and receive regular firmware updates over the air. In addition, users can also run diagnostics remotely. Unfortunately, non-Tesla EV owners can’t track or schedule charging with the connector. Meanwhile, there is a hack for Tesla owners. They can control charging if they have the TeslaFi app.

Tesla offers to install a Wall Connector before buying an electric vehicle. This is because while installation usually takes a couple of hours, finding a certified electrician can take longer. To make it easier to find a qualified installer, potential buyers can use the Find an Electrician tool on the Tesla website to find the nearest installer. The Tesla Wall Connector is a great product, aside from the inability to control charging. And while Tesla owners can get around this hurdle, the same cannot be said for non-Tesla users who buy a charger.

China Chinese girl gave boyfriend a Tesla wall jack, but he doesn’t have Tesla

A Chinese girl living in Shanghai bought her a special gift for a guy on Valentine’s Day: a Tesla wall socket used to charge Tesla at home. This is an expensive gift. The wall connector costs RMB 7200 in China or US$1050. So much love out there, right? Yes, indeed a lot. The only problem is her boyfriend doesn’t have a Tesla.

The story has gone viral on Chinese social media and automotive news sites after a bemused boyfriend shared the story himself. He expressed his surprise but at the same time said that he didn’t have a Tesla so he didn’t know what his girlfriend meant and why she gave him the charger.

The girl then responded on social media as well, because that’s how lovers communicate these days. She explained that since her boyfriend has always liked the Tesla brand, she wanted to buy him a wall jack to “motivate him so he can work hard and buy a Tesla as soon as possible.”

This is a sweet little girlfriend and she knows exactly how to motivate her man. But whether it worked is an open question. Because at the end, the boyfriend thanked the girl for the gift, but said that it was “really unnecessary.” This, I think, indicates that he does not plan to buy Tesla in the near future.

Well, maybe his girlfriend will buy him a Tesla too. How about this Shanghai-made Tesla Model 3 RWD in China Red (中国红). It sells for 229,000 RMB or $33,380. Red, of course, is also the color of a rose for Valentine’s Day. He’ll have it in 1-4 weeks, which is a bit vague, but at least he’s already got the Wall Connector, so it won’t be a problem to charge.
