Dance games for kids

This section aims to present different aspects of the world of dance in very young children. I would like to express my opinion and share information on how best to conduct dance lessons

with young novice dancers from 3 to 6 years old.

Some beginning dancers act shy when dancing in front of an audience or other children.

Therefore, in our studios in Biryulyovo, during dance classes, we use educational games for children. They give self-confidence and motivate children to use all their abilities to the fullest.

Games and dances for children aged 3-6.

At this age the class is about one hour so we have to keep in mind that they are very young children, some start dance classes at school, I find this strange.

Some children may need to get used to group training, as they are usually very attached to their moms and dads and don’t want to leave them. With all this, I think to start dancing, it is good to do one session a week and no more. The groups, as we said, go on for an hour, and can still be a little tiring for any of the kids.

It’s important how the teacher plans a dynamic lesson with different activities so that the children don’t have time to get bored because toddlers have trouble concentrating and focusing on one thing.

To make working in a group more interesting, it is advisable to use exercises in the form of games, making up stories, creating characters and also using the wealth of imagination that young children are not deprived of. Traditional dance games can be used in the exercises. Notable games such as:

“Stop game”: a typical educational game in which the facilitator stands with his back, says “Slow down…

“Set of chairs”: chairs or a hoop are placed on the floor in a circle. When…

“Hand Positions”: hand positions that we can learn with children, this is the first position…

“Rhythm and Coordination”: one of the advantages of children’s dance is the ability to…

There are thousands games and more and more are being invented. It depends on everyone’s imagination. I usually use the game in the middle or at the end of the session to apply more technical exercises. If we try to create activities that children can work and play at the same time, development will be successful, children will enjoy, develop and have fun at the same time!

1. Mirror game for hip-hop dancing and more.

Children are divided into 2 people. One begins to perform movements that the second must repeat in a mirror, like a reflection in a mirror. Then the children change places. In this game, the child should, as it were, “forget” about himself and fully concentrate on his partner.

2. Stop Game.

A typical educational game in which the leader stands with his back, says “quietly drive, you will continue, STOP”, turns around and returns to the beginning of the hall the one who could not stop.
The winner is the one who does not return to the beginning and touches the leader first. Crouching children keep their feet on the floor or rise on tiptoe to work on balance.

How do we teach children the basic foot positions that are used in ballet (first, second, third and sixth, when the legs are in place), there are also recommendations for some idea of the positions of the hands.

3. Hand positions that we can learn well with children:

– First position: in front, at waist level, as if hugging a large ball.

– Second position: with open arms support the sides forming a 90 degree angle with the body.

– Fifth position: you create the crown shape with your hands up.

A good way to practice these positions is to travel the arms, starting in first position, then fifth, continue to second, and finally return to the starting position to start again. You can also work backwards i.e. first, second, fifth and back to the beginning, or you can work this route with only one hand.
Hand exercises are difficult for children because they require a lot of concentration and work without moving the rest of the body. A good way for children is to start by sitting on the floor to relax their legs and use, for example, two colored pens or two handkerchiefs, one for each hand. By adding these elements, we make the exercise more interesting for children.
They will teach how to hold the handkerchief properly by touching the finger with the middle finger, moving it like tweezers. Then they should take both handkerchiefs and work on the positions of the hands.
Thus, we study why in ballet, in order to lengthen the line, as a rule, they slightly lengthen the middle finger to the palm, without realizing it, children will get used to the position of the hand and will not forget the sensation.

4. Rhythm and coordination.

One of the advantages of children’s dance is the ability of ear for music, also a sense of rhythm, musical memory of the body. Thus, in dance classes, we teach children music, its rhythm and time signature, so that children learn to move in harmony with the music.

A simple exercise to understand the meaning of the rhythm is to support the tempo of the music by clapping or stepping. You can combine these exercises, the first eight are claps and then 8 steps, then switch to 4 claps and 4 steps, then 2 and 2 and finally a kick and step. Thus, the dancers begin to coordinate their arms and legs, which can move separately.

Another exercise, perhaps more fun, will give the beat of a drum, tambourine, or some other instrument. The class teacher must change the tempo slower or faster, and the children must follow the rhythm to walk and step at the same time, exactly with the beat of the instrument.

It is recommended for these exercises to use pieces of music that have a simple structure and a 4 1/4 rhythm. This tempo is easier to hear because it tends to be the most common, and especially familiar to the ear.

5. Game “Set of chairs”.

Chairs or hoop placed on the floor in a circle. When the dance music is playing the children start to walk in a circle, for example (on tiptoe, running, jumping, on four legs…), and when the music stops you have to step into a hoop or take a chair. Every time a child fails to run into a hoop or take a chair, they will be removed. With the help of this game it is good to gain strength for dancing.

GAMES AND GAME RECEPTIONS IN THE LESSONS OF RHYTHMICS

(development for rhythm lessons)

0003

Bukhamer N. G.

2017

This development reveals the importance of the game and its role in the development of cognitive activity in a child, presents options for musical games and game situations conducted by students in trial rhythm lessons, as well as at extracurricular activities.

Explanatory note

The game is of great importance in the rhythm lesson. The game is the closest form of children’s activity, in it the child draws images for solving new life problems that arise in cognition, in work, in artistic creativity. Reliance on the game is the most important way to include children in learning activities, a way to ensure an emotional response to educational influences and normal living conditions. The game immerses the child in self-exploration, teaches them to understand themselves and cope with difficulties. The study of the development of children shows that in the game more effectively than in other types of activity, all mental processes develop. The changes in the child’s psyche caused by play are so significant that in Soviet psychology (L. S. Vygotsky, Yu.

Musical games are enjoyed by children with great love, cause a cheerful, cheerful mood, because along with musical and motor tasks there is an element of entertainment, and not rarely competition – who is faster, who is better, who is more dexterous, courageous, resourceful who will more accurately perform a particular task.

The game provides an excellent opportunity to switch attention, relieve tension, unite the team of children. The game manifests those character traits of children that are difficult to recognize during the performance of exercises and dances. Therefore, each teacher should have a large number of diverse, diverse games that can be used in the lesson, depending on the situation.

At rhythm lessons, the game can be of a different nature: to consolidate the material covered; to relaxation – switching attention, competitive games, where dexterity, resourcefulness are manifested.

The purpose of the development is to help teachers in the selection of musical games in the areas of musical and rhythmic education. In plot-figurative exercises and musical games, the basic principle of rhythm is preserved: all movements must be organically connected with music, that is, correspond to its character and means of musical expression. The themes and content of games usually reflect the phenomena of the surrounding reality that are understandable and close to children, and reveal familiar images. The accessibility of game images, interest in the game, the emotional story of the teacher, the expressive performance of music allows children to give their individual shades when performing the game. The coincidence of a figurative word, music and movement develops children’s imagination, the child more accurately conveys the character of the game character, movements become free, stiffness disappears, confidence appears.

One of the main signs of the game is its voluntariness, bringing pleasure. The second sign can be called its uncertainty, unpredictability, improvisation, where the child shows resourcefulness, ingenuity, and creativity. This development can be used both for trial lessons, and for extracurricular activities, and for physical education minutes. The recommended literature will help the student in finding additional, exciting and interesting material.
