APC Surge Protector Power Strip with Telephone, DSL, and Coaxial Protection

Pros
- Equipment protection policy
- LEDs to indicate protection status
- Six outlets
- Cord can lay flat
APC has a lot of confidence in this 11-outlet SurgeArrest, so much so that it offers a $100,000 equipment protection policy. Short of using it in a research lab to protect scientific instruments, we had a hard time coming up with a list of equipment to match that total. Multiple layers of protection guard against power surges coming through your coaxial TV cable, telephone/DSL lines, and home’s electrical outlets. There are LEDs to indicate protection status and building wiring faults.
The six outlets are spaced nicely to accommodate large power adaptors, and all of them have sliding covers to keep out dust and debris when you’re not using them. The heavy cord swivels 180 degrees so that it can lay flat and out of the way, no matter which way it’s oriented behind furniture.
Because of the SurgeArrest’s size and features, we found it most useful for elaborate entertainment or computer equipment.

Pros
- Widely spaced outlets for large adaptors
- Clip-on cable organizer
- Sliding covers to keep out dust and debris
Cons
- Some customers reported receiving used/damaged product
Belkin has everything covered with this 12-outlet surge protector. Connect phone/fax/DSL lines, coaxial cables for TV/cable modems, and ethernet and power cords for all your equipment to protect from surges and spikes wherever they come from.
The low-profile power strip has six widely spaced outlets to accommodate large power adaptors, and a clip-on cable organizer keeps cords all heading in the same direction. The slim design helps it fit under desks and behind furniture, so you can set it up and forget it—although the protection and ground wiring status lights won’t be visible in this case.
Sliding covers protect unused outlets from dust and debris. Just remember they’re there, or it will be frustrating reaching behind furniture to plug something in. Finally, Belkin provides a $100,000 connected equipment warranty with this surge protector.

Pros
- Compact and portable
- Three USB ports
- Has holes on the back for mounting on a wall with screws
Tessan’s Flat Plug Extension Cord is a compact option for when you only need a couple of extra outlets. Its size and shape make it easy to pack when traveling—we carried it in our laptop bag when working off-site. Four standard outlets, spaced far apart, means it was easy for us to fit devices with large plugs without overlapping. Three standard USB ports were enough to satisfy our charging needs and helped make this useful as a tabletop charging station.
You can also hang this Tessan flat on a wall or above a desk or nightstand if space is limited. We were surprised and impressed with the 3,940 joules of surge protection—that’s a lot for a power strip this inexpensive.

Pros
- Mounts horizontally or vertically
- Outlets swivel 180 degrees
- LEDs indicate protection status
- $50,000 connected equipment warranty
Cons
- Access to USB ports can be tricky, depending on how the surge protector is mounted
APC’s six-outlet SurgeArrest is ideal for use near a desk or entertainment system. It has wall mounts on the back to hang it horizontally or vertically, but make sure it’s accessible, or the USB ports all the way at the end could be blocked. The main feature of this power strip is how the six outlets swivel to provide ample room for large power adaptors or oversize plugs.
The power switch doubles as a circuit breaker reset, and when turned on, two LEDs indicate protection status and if the circuit is grounded properly. Finally, APC provides a $50,000 equipment protection policy.

Pros
- Two separate outlets for larger adaptors
- Four USB ports
- Works with some appliances
Bestek’s 8-Outlet power strip is ideal as an accessible, under-desk power solution. We found that eight outlets were more than enough for a fully outfitted, single work-station desk. Two of them are set apart from the others specifically for devices with large plugs. The other six are spaced more tightly, and we were able to use all of them with a range of standard plugs.
Four smart USB charging ports ensure each device is charged at the voltage and rate best suited for it, and they self-adjust the current when charging multiple devices simultaneously. The lighted on/off switch has an integrated circuit breaker for overload protection on all outlets, so your gadgets will be safe from fluctuations in voltage or a sudden lightning strike.
The unit has a 15-amp circuit breaker, so you can even power some appliances with it—we plugged in an 8,000-BTU window air conditioner without issue.

Pros
- Thick power cord
- Side outlets help prevent cords from getting tangled
Cons
- Doesn’t supply enough power for larger appliances

Anker PowerPort Cube Power Strip
$28 at Amazon
Pros
- Includes an adhesive pad
- Compact enough to fit in laptop bags and briefcases
- Connected equipment warranty
Cons
- No surge protection
The compact cube-shaped PowerPort from Anker is more of an extension cord with USB ports than it is a power strip. Its tiny size means it doesn’t take up space on a desk and will always be close for easy plugging and unplugging.
The PowerPort comes with an adhesive pad to keep it from moving around, wherever you decide to put it—it’s super sticky, so you can even tack it on a wall. We were able to do away with multiple AC adapters thanks to this Anker.
There are three AC outlets and three USB ports, so it will power all the personal electronic devices you need for work or play. Its compact size also makes it ideal for travel, and the cube can easily fits into a briefcase or laptop bag. Similar to the Belkin and APC power strips, Anker has a connected equipment warranty, with coverage up to $25,000.

Pros
- Surge and ground protection indicators
- 45-watt rapid-charging USB-C port
- Fire-resistant casing
Cons
- On the bulky side
The PowerExtend is more of a power outlet, complete with USB ports, than it is a power strip. It’s ideal for a desk or work surface, where you may need to charge mobile devices or plug in a laptop regularly.
The unit is weighted and has non-slip pads on the bottom, so it didn’t move around when we were plugging and unplugging USB or power cords. When we pushed the power switch, three LED lights indicated that power was on and that both ground protection and surge protection were functioning.
It has three widely space standard power outlets on the back, which allowed us to plug in various sizes and combinations of AC power adapters. One of our favorite features was the 45-watt USB-C port, which allows rapid for charging of compatible phones and laptops.

Honeywell Wall Plate Surge Protector
$15 at Amazon$15 at Walmart
Pros
- Surge protection indicator light
- USB-A and USB-C ports
Cons
- Not as much surge protection as other power strips/surge protectors
While not a power strip per se, Honeywell’s wall plate surge protector allows you to get more usage from the standard outlets around your home while saving space and eliminating extra extension cords. It comes with two AC charging outlets, along with a USB-A and a USB-C port for compatible devices.
Another convenient feature is the integrated phone stand, because you can set your device right on top of the wall plate to finish charging. Items plugged in benefit from the 800-joule surge protection.
While this surge protector doesn’t offer nearly as many outlets or charging ports as a traditional power strip, it’s still a viable method for making the most of your standard home outlets if you don’t need to plug in that many more devices.

Pros
- Works best for tabletops
- Individual power switches for each tier
- Retractable power cord
Cons
- We don’t recommend it as a permanent power supply
This Jackyled is a convenient table-top power tower, if you will, useful placed in the center of a conference table in collaborative environments or for meetings. It has outlets on every side, with two USB ports each on two of the sides. There’s a power switch for each tier of the tower, so you can be selective about which equipment you power off and which you leave on. The power cord for this unit retracts and winds into the base, so there’s no extra cable looped around to deal with. Plus, the handle on top makes for easy transport in between rooms.
We especially liked the Power Strip Tower on our project table where tools and equipment frequently come and go and we have several things happening at once. A modest amount of surge protection guards sensitive electronics, although we wouldn’t suggest using this as a permanent power supply for these devices.

How to choose the right power strip for your home
It’s always great to have an outlet on hand to plug in the right device or tool. However, it is impossible to predict how many household appliances and various electronic gadgets you will have in five years. The number of smart assistants and electronic entertainment in every home is constantly growing, and therefore there are never enough outlets. Fortunately, there are extension cords that allow you to use various devices not only in the house, but also on the street. How to choose the right Forza extension cord that will serve you faithfully for many years, we tell right now.
Short or long? The correct length of the extension cord is the key not only to the convenient use of household appliances and power tools, but also to their quality work. The fact is that electricians do not recommend connecting several carriers together. Multiple extension cords connected to each other create additional resistance that causes a voltage drop. As a result, the vacuum cleaner, lawn mower or drill will work with less power. Also, such a chain often causes additional heating and melting of the cords, which causes a fire. Even if you’re ignoring safety regulations and buying a cheap carrier with a short cord, there’s another reason to buy a longer accessory: savings. As a result, it is cheaper to buy a good carrier with a long cable than a few short extension cords of dubious quality. A long gadget is always more practical and convenient, because it is versatile and suitable for different applications.
How many extension cords can be connected to one outlet? Electricians advise not to build garlands of carriers and not to connect power filters to each other. All this leads to the risk of fire. To safely use several carriers, you need to be able to correctly calculate the power. If you are not friends with physics, it is better to purchase one extension cord with a long cord.
Thick or thin? The thickness of the wire determines the amount of energy that can safely pass through it. When choosing an extension cord, follow this rule: thicker wires carry more power over longer distances. Of course, you won’t need high power if you’re going to plug in chargers or speakers. But if you need an extension cord for power tools – drills, hammer drills, saws or vacuum cleaners, choose products with maximum power. The wire diameter must be at least 5 mm. If the indicator is lower, then the manufacturer was greedy with something – either copper wire or insulating material. In any case, it has nothing to do with quality.
Carrying wire size:
- load up to 6 Amp (1.3 kW) – 0.75 mm²
- load up to 10 Amp (2.2 kW) – 1 mm²
- load up to 16 Amps (3.5 kW) – 1.5 mm².
How to choose the right extension cord for household appliances and electric tools?
TVs, desktop computers and other appliances with a power of up to 1300 watts work in tandem with a carrying case with a wire cross section of 0. 75 mm². Bulgarians, rotary hammers, drills with a power of up to 2500 watts work with a 1.5 mm² extension cord. Heaters and appliances up to 3500 watts are compatible with the strongest carriers with a wire cross section of 1.5 mm². Be sure to pay attention to this parameter when choosing the best extension cord for your home or office. On sale you can find models of 0.5 mm², but it is not recommended to include something more powerful than a bedside lamp in them. For the home, it is better to buy a carrier of at least 1.5 mm² in order to minimize the risk of unpleasant moments. But a model with a cord 50 meters long should have a cross section of at least 2.5 mm².
Insulation material. PVA – suitable for indoor use. It works in the range from -25 to +40, but it becomes dull in the cold. In addition, it is not very resistant to mechanical damage. If a carrier with a PVC cable is regularly pulled over concrete, it will quickly become thinner. Among the advantages – PVA is resistant to ultraviolet radiation. KG – best suited for outdoor use. The material withstands mechanical loads on bending and squeezing. Can be used on construction sites, in the yard or garage. Operating temperature — from -40 to +50°. KG-HL is the best choice for frost. KGN – used in conditions where chemicals can corrode the protective shell.
The number of nests – take the maximum? Many users mistakenly believe that the 5 sockets in the carrier can be used to connect five household appliances at the same time. This is wrong. They are needed so that you do not have to constantly pull out the plugs of chargers and other gadgets and, therefore, do not loosen their contacts.
Also see how the plug is inserted into the socket. Ideally, it should be placed diagonally so that you can safely connect several devices and at the same time you will not have problems disconnecting them. But plugs that are connected vertically do not allow the use of an adjacent socket.
Fork. After you have figured out the thickness of the wire and the insulating material, carefully examine the plug. It must be cast and have protection against bending and pulling the wire.
Look for 15 amp carriers. If you are confused about the choice of length and thickness of the cord and cannot choose the golden mean, look at the rated current on the package. Electricians recommend choosing 15 amp extension cords, which are designed to connect powerful equipment. This is very important and convenient in the long run. Because when you forget the rated power of the purchased carrier in a few years, connecting an electric saw to it will not lead to disastrous consequences. Please note: 15 A does not mean that a device of this power can be connected to each socket. This is the total load from all connected devices. If the allowable load is exceeded, the wires will begin to melt and catch fire.
Grounding. One of the most useful features will be grounding, which will protect against electric shock during operation of a faulty device. This feature is especially important when connecting a refrigerator or washing machine. True, it is relevant only when the house is connected to the ground loop.
Level of protection against dust and moisture. IP20 accessories can be used inside the house (except in the bathroom). If you need a carrier for the garage, street or bathroom, choose IP44 with splash protection. Protective shutters protect nests from dust and moisture, as well as curious children.

Many users confuse these two types of carriers, because some models of extension cords are also equipped with a button. In fact, these are two different accessories. In extension cords, the button is used only for turning on and off. That is, you do not need to constantly turn off the carrying from the outlet.
Just press the button. It is very convenient in daily use.
Surge protectors protect equipment from power surges. A sharp short-term increase in voltage in the network can damage the desktop computer. Very often this causes the motherboard to burn out or the need to reinstall the operating system. The surge protector converts excess energy into heat, preventing electronic and household appliances from malfunctioning.
Thus, the main difference between an extension cord and a surge protector is that the first allows you to connect the device to a remote outlet, and the second plus to this function also protects your equipment.
Can an extension cable be connected to the mains filter? Yes, but only for a short period of time – up to 4 hours and only for low-power devices. With constant use in tandem with powerful equipment, there is a high risk of fire.
You can always find high-quality extension cords for a house with grounding and a rated power of 10-16 Amperes in the Forza manufacturer’s catalog. With our carriers, any technique works smoothly and without interruption.

Rexant Extension – Any length
What is Rexant
Extension Rexant is designed to connect several electrical appliances to the mains at the same time. This was achieved by combining several sockets in one housing. Electrical appliances are connected through an elongated wire, which is usually enough for a fixed outlet. Modern extension cords come in a variety of styles and designs, depending on the use. All Rexant power strips, in addition to several sockets, are equipped with switches, indicators, fuses, mechanical switches and provide surge protection, as well as surge protectors. In any case, this is a very popular brand and today its products are selling very well, and it has become possible to buy an extension cord even via the Internet with delivery.
Rexant extensions structure
The latest Rexant extensions can contain three or more sockets. The snow-white, very strong case is made of plastic. The plug in the new thick wire with double insulation is made multi-purpose so that it can be connected to domestic sockets. The design also contains grounding and a surge protector for protection against voltage surges. The grounding element eliminates the influence of excess current on the included devices, and therefore extends their service life. It is recommended to definitely purchase such an extension cord if there are often problems with electricity in the house.
Types of extensions
1. Ordinary consumer models. A fairly simple design is designed only for use in the apartment. Contains a cable with a plug and a block with sockets. The price of extension cords of this type is quite small and before buying you only need to calculate the length of the wire. On sale there are modifications with a switch. With it, use becomes even more convenient, because you do not need to remove the plug from the outlet.
2. Tape measure. The purpose and price of extension cords remained the same, but structurally they are very different. A folding system is built into the huge case, which helps to automatically roll the wire inside. With such a device, you will not get tangled in wires. Thanks to a small improvement, the modern cabinet is much smaller and lighter than previous models, making it much easier to use the power strip indoors.
3. The most advanced models of Rexant extension cords are equipped with USB connectors. This latest discovery in the field of microelectronics allows you to charge your mobile phone or tablet without plugging it into a power outlet through the power supply. When buying, you should pay attention to the power of the USB port, which is indicated on the label and measured in ammeters. A small value allows you to charge only phones. In each case, this is a very handy fixture that facilitates the use of portable devices at home.
Benefits of Rexant Extension Cords
REXANT is renowned for its quality electrical products. Over the years of implementation, all the company’s products have passed a rigorous quality test and today they are safely used in every home. The main advantages of Rexant extensions are:
- Reliability and convenience;
- Modern materials used in production;
- USB sockets for wireless charging of portable devices;
- Surge protection;
- Completely safe, meeting all modern standards and requirements.
All of the listed advantages make it possible to use the product everywhere. Huge reliability allows you to design from one to several grids for connecting a variety of electrical appliances. Today it is possible to buy extension cords via the Internet at wholesale prices. In our catalog you can find any products of this company and purchase on the most favorable terms.
An extension cord is a type of wiring used to extend the length of the power cord. A standard extension cord consists of one or more metal wires protected by a plastic or PVC insulating sheath. One end of the cable has a connector for electrical devices, while the other has a wire-connector that can be plugged into an outlet. These cords allow users to power objects located far from an electrical outlet, or even objects located outdoors.
Rexant extensions come in a variety of lengths and sizes to suit the needs of different users. In general, buyers choose a short cord for convenience and ease of use on small jobs, while long cords may be needed for projects located far from power outlets. Contractors and others who frequently use an extension cord may purchase multiple cords of varying lengths for different types of projects. Thicker cords usually contain thicker wires, leaving them capable of handling higher electrical loads. Thinner cords, on the other hand, contain fewer wires and are designed to handle lighter loads.
Each Rexant power strip is designed specifically for indoor or outdoor use. Cord rated for outdoor use can be safely used indoors, but indoor cord should never be used outside.
