Panasonic HC-V770K Full HD Camcorder HC-V770K
The Panasonic HC-V770K Full HD Camcorder is great for pairing with your smartphone, so you can easily record two camera angles at once. The HC-V770K offers a main image from the sensor’s in full HD and a secondary picture-in-picture image from your phone’s camera. It features a 20x optical zoom lens with a 29.5 to 612mm equivalent focal length, giving you a wide angle when zoomed out, and a substantial amount of telephoto when zoomed in. Able to record slow-motion in Full HD at up to 120 fps, it can also perform in-camera interpolation to bring the final frame rate up to 240 fps
Through their lens design partnership with Leica, Panasonic incorporated a Leica Dicomar 20x optical zoom lens with four separate optical groups and a maximum aperture of f/1.8. To keep excessive image vibration to a minimum, for steadier handheld shooting, the HC-V770K features Panasonic’s HYBRID O. I.S.+, which combines optical and digital image stabilization to provide 5-axis correction. Adjustable settings allow you to find a stabilization mode most appropriate for the kind of shooting you are doing. From OFF for tripod work, to Normal for regular handheld work, all the way up to Strong for those times when things really get shaky.
The HC-V770’s Wi-Fi does more than let you capture video from your phone’s camera as a secondary camera angle. You can preview a live image on your mobile device using the Panasonic Image App and change camera settings. If the camera has Internet access, you can even upload web-friendly copies of videos and photos directly to social media websites. Plus, there’s a Baby Monitor function which lets you use the camera like an IP surveillance camera, viewing a remote feed across the Internet.
Twin Camera Operation
The HC-V770 you can connect to your smartphone via Wi-Fi and use that as the secondary camera. With this functionality you can shoot from alternate distances or angles for a variety of picture-in-picture images.
HDR (High Dynamic Range) Movie Mode
By combining two images taken with different exposure times, the HDR Movie function suppresses blown highlights and blocked shadows for crisper, clearer videos. With HDR you can maintain gradation in your images in difficult shooting situations, like when your subject is back-lit.
Baby Calendar / Stop-Motion Animation Assist
Set the baby’s name and birthday to display thumbnail images of scenes recorded on and around that date, making it easy to find the scenes you want. By moving the subject slightly and shooting still images, you can create a unique animated slideshow. Previously taken photos are displayed with an onion skin effect for easy layering.
Creative Control
Built-in filter effects including Miniature, 8mm Movie, Silent Movie, and Time Lapse Recording let you match your video recordings to the shooting situation.
Full-HD Slow Motion Video
The HC-V770K records Full-HD (1920 x 1080) video at 120 fps. For a more dramatic slow motion effect the of the Crystal Engine’s Intelligent Frame Creation interpolates frames to achieve an equivalent of 240 fps. You can easily switch to slow motion while recording with a simple touch on the LCD screen.
High-Speed Precision Autofocus
The image sensor has a 60 fps readout enabling quick focusing speed, stability, and tracking performance.
Level Shot Function
Level Shot automatically detects and corrects tilting in images. It can be adjusted to three different levels-OFF, Normal or Strong-depending on shooting conditions.
5-Axis HYBRID OIS
Stabilized on 5 axes (pan, tilt, and roll axes, plus horizontal and vertical directions), the HYBRID OIS suppresses blurring in your videos when not using a tripod or other stabilizer.
Multi-Manual Dial
Several in-camera functions can be controlled by the Multi-Manual Dial these features include:
- Focus
- White Balance
- Shutter Speed
- Iris
- Sharpness
- Color Saturation
- Brightness

Budget FullHD camcorder Panasonic HC-V770 | Reviews | Photo, video, optics
Source: bhphotovideo.com
Key Features:
- 1/2.3-inch BSI CMOS sensor 12.76 megapixels.
- 20x optical zoom; 50x hybrid zoom.
- Hybrid image stabilization.
- Video recording in AVCHD 2.0 and MP4 at 1080/50p at 28Mbps (50Mbps for MP4).
- WiFi connection.
The HC-V770 is Panasonic’s advanced HD camcorder. Unlike the flagship models, the HC-VX870 and HC-WX970 (and newer), it doesn’t shoot in 4K.
If you don’t plan to upgrade to 4K anytime soon, the HC-V770 can be a versatile camcorder with all the options you need. It’s a lot cheaper than the 4K models, and it comes with a lot of high-end features. It is thanks to the combination of a low price, a wide range of functions and excellent shooting quality that the HC-V770 is still popular among Russian users.
Highlights
The HC-V770 is equipped with a 1/2.3-inch back-illuminated CMOS sensor with a resolution of 12.76 megapixels. Movies use only 6.03 megapixels, but that’s almost three times the number of pixels needed for Full HD. Panasonic uses an extra resolution for Intelligent Zoom, which increases the 20x optical zoom to 50x.
Additional resolution is also used for the Hybrid OIS system, which combines optical and in-body image stabilization. Most users note the high performance of the system in most shooting conditions.
As we noted above, the HC-V770 does not shoot in 4K. The maximum resolution is 1080p Full HD at 50 full frames per second. Material is recorded at 28Mbps in AVCHD and 50Mbps in MP4. MP4 also allows you to shoot 720p and iFrame at 960 x 540 resolution (a quarter of Full HD) at 25 full frames per second and 28Mbps bitrate. This mode has the least aggressive compression among all presented.
Full HD slow motion recording available at 100 fps. The proprietary Crystal Engine interpolates video up to 200 fps before playing it at 50 fps. This option can be enabled by default or activated by pressing the button on the screen, which turns off the microphone and records slow motion until you release it.

The HC-V770 provides a full range of Wi-Fi capabilities, from remote control of the camcorder, as a baby monitor or as a surveillance camera. The camcoder can also be used for online broadcasts via USTREAM.
Another function – Wireless Twin Camera: the front and rear camera of a smartphone can be used as a secondary camera – the image from the smartphone will be placed in the main frame of the camcorder as a picture-in-picture. The option is also available when connecting other Panasonic cameras equipped with Wi-Fi.
Design, ergonomics and operation
The design of the HC-V770 follows the older model HC-W850, but the HC-V770 lacks a second camera. The second camera is certainly nice, but not necessarily an addition, and by removing it, Panasonic was able to further reduce the price of the camera. On the other hand, where the second camera was located in the HC-W850, there was a large bare piece of plastic.

Users report that the HC-V770 is comfortable to hold when shooting with two hands. Most settings are made using the touch screen. There is also a separate dial next to the lens for quick access to manual settings. Unlike the lens ring, the dial is not as well suited for tasks such as maintaining focus, but it is quite effective for a number of other options. For example, it can be used to switch to manual mode (with adjustment of focus, white balance, shutter speed and aperture) and manual image adjustment mode.
White balance options include a standard set of indoor and outdoor presets, as well as manual adjustment. Shutter speeds are available from 1/25 to 1/8000 and apertures from f/1.8 at wide end or f/3.6 at full zoom all the way up to f/16.
Image settings include sharpness, color, and white balance shift, and exposure control is available only when aperture and shutter speed have not been adjusted manually. Even in Intelligent Auto mode, some picture settings are available. There are special effects, as well as the ability to shoot time-lapse.
There are 11 different modes for the slow motion video already mentioned above. Finally, the camera also has an HDR mode, so the HC-V770 got a really serious set of modes and settings.
Although the HC-V770 is not equipped with an accessory shoe, there is a dedicated adapter slot on the back that is included.
The front of the camcorder has a row of microphones that allow you to record 5.1 surround sound, there is also a stereo mini-jack for connecting an external microphone. Another 3.5 mm jack under the lens allows you to connect headphones to monitor the sound level.
Removable battery lasts for approximately 2 hours, while an external battery can be connected.
Image quality
Many users appreciate the video quality of the HC-V770: in good light, the camera produces deep and true-to-life colors with lots of fine detail.
These qualities are retained even when lighting is dimmed – the HC-V770 has no problem capturing a bright image in a moderately lit room, such as during a family reunion. Of course, don’t expect miracles from a camera with a small sensor in terms of low-light performance. If the light becomes insufficient, a small built-in lamp with a range of several meters is available.
com/embed/ufwQX1ekW2E” frameborder=”0″ allow=”accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture” allowfullscreen=””>
In Slow Motion mode, the camera produces much softer video with less detail than in normal mode, most likely due to frame interpolation. In this case, the movement in any case comes out very smooth.
The camera captures 6 megapixel still images and 24 megapixel photo mode in a variety of aspect ratios including 16:9 and 4:3. Users note that for a camcorder, the quality of photos comes out quite decent.

Pros Panasonic HC-V770:
- Value for money.
- Good video quality.
- Effective stabilization.
- Wide range of manual settings.
Cons:
- No 4K shooting.
- No lens ring.
- Small sensor compared to DSLRs.
The Panasonic HC-V770 is a fairly typical high-end Panasonic camcorder with a lot of features. Of course, the age of the camera is already starting to show – the main drawback is the lack of 4K, but if FullHD resolution is enough for you, then the HC-V770 can be a great option. High image quality, many manual settings and excellent stabilization are the undoubted advantages of this fairly budget camera.
Panasonic HC-V770 Full HD Camcorder
Description Panasonic HC-V770 Camcorder
The Panasonic HC-V770 Camcorder captures the clarity and warmth of your Full HD memories. Even with bright lighting behind the subject, you will get rich and detailed scenes. Thanks to the system of independent control of lens groups, the drive ranges are reduced, and at the same time the dimensions of the housing are reduced. The BSI sensor and powerful processor instantly process the image, smoothing out noise and other noticeable flaws. The camera has internal intelligent shooting modes that adapt to the type of scene. All functions are controlled in an intuitive menu via the touch screen.
Built-in Wi-Fi allows you to not only share content wirelessly, but also connect additional devices to capture multiple angles in parallel. With this technology, Panasonic HC-V770 can serve as a baby monitor and home monitoring tool, as well as transmit a signal in the conditions of live content broadcast to the server.
