Apple iPhone 6 charging cable

The iPhone 6 charging cable is the connection cable between Mac and iPhone or USB plug-in power supply and Apple iPhone. It doesn’t matter whether you have an iPhone 6, iPhone 6s or iPhone 6 plus or 6s plus, because all these Apple smartphones have a Lightning connector and can be connected to the same charging cable. Of course, the newer iPads (iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad Pro) and also the iPod nano (from 7th generation) and the iPod Touch (from 5th generation) have this data connection. In the delivery state, the devices always come with a power supply unit or charger and the USB cable with Lightning connector.

The Amazon Basics cable is inexpensive and suitable as an iPhone 6 charging cable (Photos: Amazon).

USB to Lightning charging cable – these cables can be used

In principle, all cell phone data cables with a USB connector on one side and a Lightning connector on the other can be used to charge your iPhone. With every iPhone (from version 5 – also with the iPhone 6 and 6 s plus) such a cable from Apple is already included, but you often need a replacement because you still need one for charging in the car (with a car adapter) or in the office needed. Now the question arises as to which cable one should use.

Important: “mfi certification”

mfi certification = made for iPhone: The Amazon Basics cable has the certification.

The choice of Lightning cables is relatively large, but you should only buy those that are also “mfi-certified”. This certification guarantees that the cable meets Apple’s specifications. If you use a different cable, it can happen that the iPhone reports an error when connecting and does not start the charging process.

In an older post I went into detail about a Test of Lightning USB cables dedicated. If you like, you can read a lot of details about the quality of the iPhone data cables there. But who only can quickly find a selection of good and affordable iPhone charging cables, who can use my personal list of recommendations for shopping on Amazon. All of the following charging cables are natural mfi certified:

There are of course a number of other cable offers that are both mfi-certified and also work as charging cables for the iPhone. However, the above selection of Lightning cables offers a good pre-selection and Rampow’s lifetime warranty is definitely a plus for this manufacturer. If you are looking for a cable in red, gold or silver, you can, for example, use the Powerline models from Anker look through.

A 3-in-1 cable that supports both Lightning and micro-USB and USB-C combined. This can be used not only as an iPhone 6 charging cable but also as a charging cable for the Kindle, for power banks or current MacBooks:

You can of course not only use these cables as data cables for synchronization with iTunes, but also for charging on the power supply. They work just as well as the original Apple charging cable on the corresponding USB charger.

Adapter from 30-pin to Lightning

Of course there are some older docking stations or audio docks that still have the old 30-pin termination that Apple used in the past. If you still want to use your iOS device with a Lightning connector, you can use an adapter that connects these two connectors. Here, however, you have to make sure that audio is also transmitted if you want to use the device for audio transmission.

With these adapters you can also use new iPhones with an old dock. If you want to buy a new dock right away, you can find it here a list of the best Lightning docking stationsthat can also be used for the iPhone 6 in conjunction with the charging cable.

Important safety information for iPhone

WARNING. Failure to follow these safety instructions could result in fire, electric shock, or other injury, or damage to iPhone or other property. Please read the following safety information before using iPhone.

Operation. Handle iPhone with care. The device is made of metal, glass and plastic and contains fragile electronic components. iPhone and its battery can be damaged if dropped, exposed to fire, punctured, or splashed with liquid. If you suspect that iPhone or its battery is damaged, stop using the device as overheating or injury may result. Do not use an iPhone with cracked glass as this may cause injury. To prevent scratches on the surface of iPhone, use a case or screen protector.

Repair. iPhone service should only be performed by a qualified technician. Attempting to disassemble iPhone could result in damage, loss of splash and water resistance (on supported models), or personal injury. If iPhone is damaged or malfunctioning, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for service. Repairs performed by untrained technicians or using non-genuine Apple parts may cause safety or performance issues. For more information about repair and service, visit the iPhone Service Answer Center webpage.

Battery. To avoid battery damage that could result in overheating, fire, or injury, have your iPhone battery replaced by a trained technician. Recycle or dispose of the battery separately from household waste and in accordance with local environmental regulations and guidelines. For battery maintenance and disposal, see Battery Maintenance and Recycling.

Lasers. The iPhone 7 and later proximity sensor, TrueDepth camera, and LiDAR scanner contain one or more lasers. These laser systems can be turned off for safety purposes if the device is damaged or malfunctions. If you receive a notification on your iPhone that the laser system is off, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for service. Improper repairs, modifications, or the use of non-genuine Apple parts in laser systems may prevent safety devices from working properly and result in hazardous exposure and injury to eyes and skin.

Loss of attention. Using iPhone under certain conditions can distract your attention and lead to dangerous situations (for example, do not use headphones while cycling or text while driving). Follow rules that prohibit or restrict the use of mobile devices and headphones. For more information about driving safety, see Focus driving on iPhone.

Navigation. The Maps application depends on services that provide data. Data provision services are subject to change. They may not be available in all countries or regions, and as a result, maps and location information may not be available, accurate, or complete. Compare the information provided by the Maps application with the real area around you. Use common sense when navigating. Obey the posted road signs and pay attention to the current state of the road. Some features of the Maps application require the use of Location Services.

Charging. To charge iPhone, do one of the following:

  • Charge your iPhone battery using the supplied charging cable (included) and Apple USB Power Adapter (sold separately).

  • Place your iPhone face up on a MagSafe or MagSafe Duo charger (connected to an Apple 20W USB-C Power Adapter or other compatible power adapter) or on a Qi charger. (MagSafe and MagSafe Duo chargers, power adapters and Qi chargers sold separately.)

  • Connect your iPhone to your computer with a cable.

You can also charge your iPhone using cables and power adapters with the “Made for iPhone” logo, and other third-party power adapters that support USB 2.0 or later, as long as they comply with applicable national, international, and regional safety standards. Other adapters may not comply with current safety standards and charging with them may involve a risk of injury or death.

Using damaged cables and chargers, or charging in wet conditions can cause fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to iPhone or other property. If you use the included charging cable or wireless charger (sold separately) to charge iPhone, make sure the USB connector is securely plugged into the power adapter before plugging it into a power outlet. It is very important to keep your iPhone, charging cable, power adapter, or wireless charger in a well-ventilated area while in use or charging. When using the wireless charger, remove metal cases and keep the charger free of metal objects (such as keys, coins, batteries, jewelry) as they may become hot or interfere with the charging process.

Charging cable and socket. Avoid prolonged skin contact with the connector or cable while the charging cable is connected to a power source as this may cause discomfort or injury. Avoid situations where you can sit on or fall asleep on the charging port or cable.

Continuous heat exposure. iPhone and Apple USB Power Adapters (sold separately) comply with required surface temperature limits set by applicable national, international, and local safety standards. However, even within these limits, continuous contact with hot surfaces for extended periods of time may cause discomfort or injury. Use your device wisely and avoid situations in which your skin is in contact with the device, its power adapter, or wireless charger for extended periods of time while they are in operation or connected to a power source. For example, when a device, power adapter, or wireless charger is connected to a power source, you do not need to sleep on it, put it under a blanket, pillow, or cover it with your body. When using or charging iPhone, keep the power adapter and wireless chargers in a well-ventilated area. You should be especially careful if your physical condition does not allow you to feel the heating temperature of the devices.

USB power adapter. (Sold separately.) To ensure safe use of the Apple USB Power Adapter and reduce the chance of heat build-up and injury, plug the power adapter directly into a power outlet. Do not use the power adapter in damp areas or near sources of moisture such as liquids, washbasins, bathtubs, showers, etc. Do not touch the adapter with wet hands. Stop using the power adapter and any cables in any of the following cases:

  • power adapter plug or pins damaged;

  • Charging cable frayed or damaged;

  • power adapter has been exposed to high humidity or liquid has entered the adapter case;

  • The power adapter has been dropped and the case has been damaged.

Hearing loss. High volume levels may damage your hearing. Background noise and prolonged exposure to high volumes can make sounds appear quieter than they actually are. Turn on the sound and check the volume before inserting the headphones into your ears. For details on setting the maximum volume limit, see Using the headphone sound exposure level features on iPhone. For more information about possible hearing damage, see the Apple website.

WARNING. To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen at high volume for extended periods of time.

Exposure to radio emission. iPhone uses radio signals to connect to wireless networks. To learn more about radio frequency (RF) emissions from radio signals and how to reduce your exposure, go to Settings > General > Legal > RF Exposure or visit the RF Exposure webpage.

RF interference. Follow regulations that prohibit or restrict the use of electronic devices. Although iPhone has been designed, tested, and manufactured to meet RF exposure guidelines, iPhone radio emissions can interfere with other electronic equipment and cause it to malfunction. If you are not allowed to use your device, such as on an airplane or at the request of the police, turn off your iPhone or use airplane mode. Alternatively, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and Settings > Bluetooth to turn off wireless transmitters on your iPhone.

Impact on medical devices. iPhone and MagSafe accessories contain magnets and certain components and/or radio transmitters that emit electromagnetic fields. These magnets and electromagnetic fields can interfere with medical devices.

Consult your physician and medical device manufacturer for details about how it works and whether to keep it at a safe distance from iPhone and MagSafe accessories. Manufacturers often provide guidelines for the safe use of devices with wireless or magnetic devices to help prevent possible interference. If you believe that iPhone and MagSafe accessories are interfering with your medical device, stop using them.

Some medical devices, such as implanted pacemakers and defibrillators, may be equipped with sensors that respond to radio-magnetic radiation when close to the source. To prevent possible impact on the operation of such medical devices, ensure sufficient distance between your medical device and MagSafe-compatible iPhone models and MagSafe accessories (more than 15 cm from the device; more than 30 cm when charging wirelessly). For more specific instructions, consult your physician and medical device manufacturer.

iPhone is not a medical device. iPhone is not a medical device and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice. It is not intended for and may not be used to diagnose disease or other conditions and is not intended to treat, relieve acute conditions, or prevent disease or other conditions. Before making any decision regarding your health, contact a healthcare facility.

State of health. If you believe that iPhone or flashing lights may be affecting your health (for example, causing seizures, blackouts, eye strain, or headaches), consult a physician before using iPhone.
