I’ve only had this for a little less than a month, but it works great so far. The controls are easy to figure out and customize to a load. I’m not sure why the machine has a default setting of warm, but I’ve only forgotten to change it once. No leaks, as some others mentioned. Hold a lot, more than my dryer, as I had a 3.5 c.f. before. Does not make a great deal of noise, and I like the auto adjust because that seems to balance every load. All clothes have come out clean, so the auto sense works well. I did have two blankets in the other night and set it to bulky. I think it took about 1.5 hours which was surprisingly long. I don’t think other brands nowadays are any quicker though. I did buy the extended warranty because some of the reviews scared me, and you never know!

We are extremely pleased. It is light enough to easily move out of the closet over to the sink, simple hookup and the tub is big enough to do bedding. The spin cycle is so powerful the clothes hang dry in no time vs over-night with a fan blowing on them.

This washer exceeds my expectation. It does a great job washing. It took a little getting used to. My last washer was 20 years old and not very sophisticated! I was skeptical of the auto sensing water level, but after using it a month, it works really well. It is also very sturdy and stable (i.e. it doesn’t dance during the spin cycle!).

BUYING GUIDANCE

What should I look for when buying a Clothes Washer?

Check the yellow EnergyGuide label

Use this label to determine the model’s energy use, compare the energy use of similar models,
and estimate annual operating costs. Learn How to Use the Federal Trade Commission’s EnergyGuide Label
and the Difference Between the Energy Guide and ENERGY STAR.

Think carefully about the size.

ENERGY STAR certified models are available in various product widths and drum capacities. Think about where you want
to place your clothes washer and whether you typically run small or large loads. ENERGY STAR certified models are also
available in stackable, under-the-counter designs, and combination washer-dryer designs which fit in smaller spaces.

Save the most by choosing a model with a high Integrated Modified Energy Factor (IMEF) and a low Integrated Water Factor (IWF).

Integrated Modified Energy Factor (IMEF) is a measure of energy efficiency that considers the energy used by the washer during the cycle and while on standby, the energy used to heat the water, and the energy used to run the dryer. The higher the IMEF, the more energy efficient the clothes washer.

Integrated Water Factor (IWF) is a measure of water efficiency in gallons of water consumed per cubic foot of capacity. The lower the IWF, the more water efficient the clothes washer. Both IMEF and IWF are provided for each model listed in the ENERGY STAR Product Finder.

Consider the benefits of front load

ENERGY STAR certified front load washers use about 45% less energy and 50% less water than a top load agitator washer.
In the past decade or so, top load impeller washers, which have a low-profile cone or disc instead of an agitator,
have become popular as a more energy- and water-efficient option compared to traditional top load washers. However,
compared to a top load impeller washer, front load washers are still about 25% more energy and water efficient.

In recent years, clothes washer technology has seen dramatic improvements in efficiency and functionality. Selecting an ENERGY STAR certified washer gets you all these premium features and functionality, with the following additional benefits:

  • Get a shower of water savings.
New ENERGY STAR certified clothes washers use advanced technology to dramatically reduce water use. Full-sized washers that have earned the ENERGY STAR use 14 gallons of water per load, compared to the 20 gallons used by a standard machine.
  • Long live your clothes
Clothes washers with agitators can be rough on your clothes and put them through extra wear and tear. ENERGY STAR clothes washers have sophisticated wash systems that use a variety of methods to lift and tumble your laundry, lengthening the life of often-washed items. Additionally, because they are so gentle, many models can safely clean silk, wool, and other hand-washables.
  • Take time out.
Without a bulky agitator, there is more usable space in the washer for laundry — especially larger items like comforters. More capacity means fewer loads of laundry each week. What will you do with your extra time?
  • Save the environment.
More than 60% percent of U.S. electricity is generated by burning coal and natural gas, which releases greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and contributes to climate change. ENERGY STAR certified clothes washers use less energy and help us reduce our impact on the environment. By reducing water consumption, they also put less strain on limited water resources. Down jackets, duvet covers and pillows are best dried in a tumble dryer with a down programme. Tumble drying gives flexibility and volume. If you don’t have a dryer or need a laundry label, it’s best to take your downy items to a professional dry cleaner. It is not recommended to air dry the down as it is very difficult and can take several days. In addition, if water remains at the bottom, stains and even unpleasant odors often appear from it.

How to choose the right washer-dryer

Modern washing machines are multifunctional: they both wash and spin the laundry. It is only then that you need to dry it. Residents of private houses have no problems with this: I hung out the laundry in the yard, it aired and dried out. But in apartments, the situation is more complicated. Rescues either a balcony or the placement of a dryer near radiators. Is tumble drying necessary? Someone really needs it. Therefore, we will figure out which model to give preference to.

Working principle and types of drying

What is washing machine drying? This is an additional option that allows you to dry the laundry after spinning. How does a washer dryer work? In conventional SMAs, there is only one heating element for heating water – models with drying are equipped with a second heating element for heating air. The heated air passes evenly through the laundry due to the fact that the drum rotates. The resulting condensate is collected in the tanks provided.

Please note that in some models, the accumulated moisture immediately goes into the sewer.

The disadvantages of this program can be considered a high cost of electricity. Another disadvantage is the discrepancy between the two modes. When washing, you can load the laundry up to the limit. However, when drying, the machine can only process a fraction of these items. As a result, you will have to load the drum several times.

Types of programs

There are basic and additional programs, their choice will affect the cost of SM. In combined washing machines with a drying mode, this function is optional. That is, the washing efficiency is of primary importance. Therefore, you can dry things by setting the timer at your discretion. The disadvantage of this approach is that things can get very dry, or vice versa, not dry enough. Some models are more advanced. The built-in Fuzzy Logic function, by controlling humidity and temperature, sets the residual humidity of things. Such CMs are equipped with several user-friendly drying modes. For example, instead of the usual temperature signs, you can choose intensive, gentle drying or ironing.

The “Dry wash” mode is very useful. Items left in the closet, especially when the seasons change, usually do not require washing. It is enough to refresh them a little, which is what this option does.

Energy class

Manufacturers have not yet perfected washer dryers. Therefore, conventional machines have an energy efficiency class of A ++, which is considered the most economical. And washing machines with dryers, at best, have class B, or even C, D.

You have already come to the question: how to choose the best washer-dryer? Now let’s figure it out.
