Marking of LG TVs — magazine LG MAGAZINE Russia
The model range of LG TVs is very wide. Even the most demanding customer will find equipment that suits his needs, as LG is rightfully considered one of the world’s leading TV manufacturers. LG’s range of TVs includes OLED, NanoCell, 8K, UHD (4K), LED (HD) and ultra-large models (from 75 inches).
All types of LG TVs have their own alphanumeric marking, which contains all the main characteristics. Knowing how to decipher the abbreviation of the marking, you can get data on the characteristics of the TV: screen diagonal, screen matrix type, year of manufacture, design, for which country the model was made, etc.
LG TV marking can be found in the model name on the page of the online store or official website, on the price tag of the product in the store, as well as on the sticker on the back of the TV itself. In addition, the marking of the TV is mandatory indicated in the technical passport.
How to decipher the marking of the TV LG ?
LG TV marking is an alphanumeric code, in which:
- The first two digits are the screen diagonal size in inches. It can vary from 32 to 88 (in ultra large models of LG TVs). The size of the screen affects the price of the TV, the larger it is, the more expensive the model.
One inch equals 2.54 cm.0009 .
E – OLED TV (for TVs released from 2016 to 2018. After 2018, the marking of LG OLED TVs has changed, which will be discussed separately).
U – Ultra-HD TV (liquid crystal matrix with LED backlight).
S – Super UHD (LCD models with Nano Cell backlight).
L LCD TV with HD LED backlight.
Model designations of LG TVs, currently discontinued from production
Р – plasma panel.
- The next letter / several letters (depending on the model and year of manufacture) in the marking of the LG TV is year of manufacture .
LV – manufactured in 2011.
LW, LM, PA, PM, PS (LW and LM with 3D) – 2012
N, A (A with 3D, N without 3D) – 2013
900 40 V – 2014
F – flat screen, G – curved screen (EG – OLED 4K, UF – LED 4K, LF – LED Full HD) – 2015

M (SM/UM) for LCD models, digital value “9” for OLED (R9, Z9, W9, E9, C9, B9) – 2019
N – Nano/UN for LCD models, X value for OLED (RX, ZX, WX, EX, CX, BX ).
- The following digital values in the LG TV marking are TV series and model in the series. The larger the digital value, the more options this LG TV model has.
- The last letter in the marking is tuner type .
DVB-S/S2 receives digital satellite channels. DVB-T/T2 – terrestrial digital television channels (digital television), DVB-C – digital cable television.
- T – DVB-T/T2, DVB-C.
- S – DVB-T, DVB-C, DVB-S/S2.
- V – DVB-T/T2, DVB-C, DVB-S/S2 (accepts all formats).
- C – DVB-T, DVB-C.
Modern LG TVs use V-marked tuners that allow you to receive all digital channels.
TV marking LG has relabeled TVs to be compatible with LED and OLED in different countries.
So, “OLED” appeared before the alphanumeric code. The main changes affected the letter values at the end of the marking. If until now there was a tuner format (see above), then since 2018 this data was preceded by a letter indicating the region for sale in which the model is intended. The letter designations for the tuner type have also changed.
