Cyberpunk 2077 will be playable on that console right from the release of the PlayStation 5 and the game will look better than on the PlayStation 4. The publisher just delayed the action-adventure RPG once again from September to November 19th, noting that it needs more time to make sure Cyberpunk 2077 works as smoothly as possible before launch day. It’s a little unclear whether it’ll arrive before or after PS5 and XSX are released — they’ll both be out sometime this holiday season. Optical drive	The PS5 will include a disc drive, or it won’t. There are two models to choose from, standard or Digital Edition. Standard it comes with 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray optical drive.
Video	With the PS5, 4K will be the standard and comes with HDMI 2. 1 (support for 4K 120 Hz TVs, 8K TVs, VRR).
Audio	Audio is a key feature to really push the next-gen experience with PS5 and Tempest 3D AudioTech.
Network	PS5 will ship with Wi-Fi 6 802.11 AX standard which is a big deal! WiFi 6 is a huge improvement and changes the whole game basically. WiFi 6 (802.11ax) has better latency and for gaming that is critical.

How to Upgrade PS4 Games to Their PS5 Versions

Sony’s PS5 comes loaded with several features, including backward compatibility, which allows you to play PS4 games on your new console. But did you know you can also upgrade some PS4 games to their PS5 versions to take advantage of the PS5’s improved hardware?

This means you can enjoy your favorite games with better graphics and a smoother gaming experience. Here’s how you can upgrade your eligible PS4 games to their PS5 versions.

How to Tell if Your PS4 Game Has a PS5 Upgrade

You should note that not every PS4 game has a PS5 upgrade available. The list of PS4 games upgradeable to PS5 versions is still growing, but some of the most popular titles are already available. This includes Cyberpunk 2077, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, to name a few.

Do PS4 games automatically upgrade to their PS5 versions? No, you first need to check if your PS4 game is eligible for a PS5 upgrade on this list from the PlayStation Store. Alternatively, if you bought the game digitally through the PlayStation Store, sign in to your PlayStation account on your PS5 (the same one you used to purchase the PS4 game) and go to your Game tab.

There, you will find the games you downloaded to your console. Move your cursor to the tile of the game you wish to check and tap on the “…” icon by the Play Game option. If the game has a PS5 upgrade, you will see Select Version as part of the options.

You can also upgrade an eligible PS4 game if you bought the disc version and have it inserted into your PS5. However, this means that you must have the standard PS5 with a disk drive and will have to keep the PS4 game disc inserted in your console every time you want to play the game.

Are PS4 to PS5 Game Upgrades Free?

You will notice that some games offer free upgrades while others are only available in cross-gen bundles, special editions, or as part of a paid upgrade. This means some PS4 game versions are cheaper than their PS5 or cross-gen bundle counterparts.

That’s why you should check the prices before you upgrade any PS4 games. For example, the PS4 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War costs $59.99, while its cross-gen bundle, which includes both PS4 and PS5 versions, is $69.99.

In case you are wondering; yes, you can purchase an eligible, pre-owned, disc-based PS4 game and upgrade to its PS5 version as long as you have the disc inserted in your PS5 console.

Are PS4 Games Without Upgrades Better on the PS5?

While some PS4 games don’t have a PS5 upgrade, they may still perform better on the PS5, as they can take advantage of the console’s more powerful hardware.

For instance, some PS4 games may run at higher or more stable frame rates as well as a higher resolution, thanks to the PS5 Game Boost feature, making them smoother and more visually pleasing. Lastly, you may also experience faster loading times when running PS4 games from your PS5’s SSD.

How to Upgrade Digital PS4 Games to Their PS5 Versions

To upgrade an eligible digital PS4 game to its PS5 version, follow these steps:

1. Sign in to the PlayStation account you used to buy the game.
2. Go to the PlayStation Store and search for the game you want to upgrade.
3. If you have already downloaded the PS4 version of the game to your PS5, tap on the “…” icon by the Play Game button, and then Select Version to download the PS5 version. If you have not installed the PS4 version, make sure you select the PS5 version before downloading.
4. Tap on Download for free upgrades (or purchase if it’s a paid upgrade).
5. Wait for the download and installation to complete; you can then start playing the PS5 version of your game.

If you’ve previously downloaded the PS4 version of your game, you might have both the PS4 and PS5 versions installed on your PS5. This can take up a lot of space, so you might want to delete the PS4 version to increase your PS5 storage space.

To do this, go to Settings > Storage > Console Storage > Games and Apps, go through the list of games, and highlight and delete the PS4 version of the game you just upgraded.

How to Upgrade PS4 Disc Games to Their PS5 Versions

As mentioned above, you will need a PS5 with a disc drive to upgrade PS4 disc games to their PS5 versions. If you have the standard PS5, follow these steps:

1. Insert the PS4 game disc into your PS5.
2. Sign in to your account, go to the game hub for the game and Copy the game to your console’s internal storage.
3. Once the installation is complete, tap on the “…” icon by the Play button and select View Product Page.
4. Select the upgrade offer on the right side of your screen.
5. Download the upgrade or purchase if it’s a paid upgrade.
6. Wait for the download and installation to complete. You can then start playing the PS5 version of your game.

Note that you will need to insert the game disc each time you want to play the PS5 version of the game.

Enjoy Better Visuals by Upgrading Eligible PS4 Games to Their PS5 Versions

If you have any eligible PS4 games, we recommend upgrading them to their PS5 versions to enjoy better visuals and performances. Some games offer free upgrades, while others require purchasing the PS5 version or a cross-gen bundle.

The update is already available on all platforms and the download size is approximately 50-60 GB. In patch 1.5, in addition to changes and improvements, there are several free DLCs that can be disabled.

Information about the patch appeared ahead of time in the Dutch Xbox Twitter account. The entry was soon deleted, but its screenshots remained on the network. Apparently, the official announcement will take place during the CD Projekt RED stream, which will be held on the studio’s Twitch channel.

The tweet states that Cyberpunk 2077 updates for Xbox Series X|S and native versions for current generation consoles have already been released. And with them, a five-hour demo became available.

CD Projekt RED employees officially announced the game updates during the REDstream broadcast. The Cyberpunk 2077 website has given a full list of changes that have been made in the patch, and a five-hour demo has been launched on all consoles (it will be available until March 15).
