What can a Cricut Explore 3 do?

The Cricut Explore 3 is the latest model in the brand’s entry-level digital craft machines, and is capable of cutting, scoring and engraving over 100 materials. It’s mainly used for paper crafts, cards and stickers, but the Explore 3 can be used for fabric cutting and even wood model creations. Is Cricut Explore 3 a good beginner machine?

Yes, this is ideal if you’re new to digital craft machines. It uses the same software and processes as the more powerful Cricut Maker 3 so you can learn the ropes and is capable of enough to ensure you can make some fun projects. Compared to Maker 3 this is simply a little slower and is compatible with fewer materials, 100 as opposed to Maker 3’s 300.

How to use a Cricut Explore 3?

Using a Cricut Explore 3 is easy. Getting it out of the box, you simply plug to the mains, download the Cricut Design Space app for free, where you will be able to create your text- or design-based projects that will eventually be sent to the Cricut Explore 3 machine via Bluetooth.

You then chose your tool, and and your materials, and begin to cut, foil, score or write. Another thing of note is with the Cricut Explore 3, you can use smart materials, meaning that you no longer need a mat to cut them (as you did with previous models). 

Which is the best Cricut machine out there?

Each Cricut machine do specific things really well. For example, the Cricut Mug Press is all about printing onto mugs. But when you get to the ‘main’ Cricut machines (the Explore Air 2, the Explore 3, the Cricut Maker and the Cricut Maker 3), the differences are a little more subtle. The higher end of the Cricut machines can handle loads of materials, such as paper, wood, leather and lace, feature better motors that make it fast, and most importantly allowing crafters to work with smart materials. 

The Cricut Explore Air 2 is perfect for people new to Cricut crafting, and around half of the price of the Cricut Maker 3. Then there’s the Cricut Explore 3, which is cheaper than the top end Cricut Maker 3, but a bit more than the Explore 3, as it can handle smart materials. How to order a Cricut plotter? – Pinky Pink

I think many people have been watching with curiosity for a long time how you can personalize and make your projects unique with the help of a plotter (aka cutter). And many are interested in where and for how much to buy a plotter like mine. This article will certainly help to understand some of the points and difficulties that accompany the acquisition of a miracle tool.

Because at the moment there are no official distributors of Cricut plotters in Russia, and it is not yet produced with a euro socket, it has to be ordered from the USA.

Plotter can be ordered on Amazon with delivery through an intermediary.

I will give an example of ordering a Cricut Maker plotter with all the details dated June 2020.

1. We register on the reseller’s website, if you are not registered yet, and get an address in the USA. I prefer an intermediary https://polexp.com/
2. We order the selected model of the plotter on Amazon, when placing the order, we indicate the delivery to the address in the USA, which was given to us by the intermediary. I use an address in DE Wilmington, USA. In my example, the Cricut Maker plotter.
3. We are waiting for the notification of receipt of the parcel from the intermediary to the e-mail. It usually takes about 3-4 days.
4. When the parcel has entered the account with the intermediary, you can fill out a customs declaration. There you need to write what is in the package, how much, what, how much it weighs and how much it cost. In my case, the declaration was filled out in Russian:
   Cricut Maker paper cutting machine. Since this is electronics, I indicated in the obligatory note that there is Bluetooth. Weight 10.88 kg, cost $332.98.
5. We are waiting for a couple more days, and when the package is processed, it can be sent further. You need to choose a shipping method. I preferred PE-Standard, so I filled out the declaration in Russian. All these features are spelled out in great detail on the website of the intermediary, so I will not duplicate it here 🙂
6. Some more time passes, and the cost of sending it appears next to the parcel (if you need a preliminary calculation, there is a calculator on the site). You only need to replenish your balance for this amount, pay for the package and wait for your plotter. It took me a week from that moment to delivery, but this period may vary. The cost of the parcel came out like this:

Total on 07/15/2020, the Cricut Maker plotter with delivery cost 23940 rubles. + 11160 rubles. = 35100 r.

Attention! Recently, plotters ordered from Amazon without an intermediary directly are not allowed through customs. This is argued by the fact that the plotter cannot be obtained by an individual. Be careful!

UPD: From January 1, 2020, the customs rules for importing into the territory of the Russian Federation have changed, the new rules are here. Now for each parcel with a total value of more than 200 euros, you need to pay a fee.

Cricut Maker is the most powerful Cricut maker to date. In further videos of this course, I show how the plotters work and what are the differences between the models. You can also find out more about the current model range on the manufacturer’s website.

Starter kits are available for all models. I am against them, because with the plotter itself, everything will come to you in order to start. And then you can already order materials for your needs. The only thing that is very useful to me from the set is the tools: Basic Tool Set They make my work easier.

Does the Explore Air 2 cut binding board? Yes, it cuts! But its thickness should be no more than 1 mm, and the contour for cutting should not be too intricate. This method is not suitable for cutting a chipboard with curls, but you can easily cut stars or hearts. Please note that the cardboard must be binding, not beer. And to cut it, you need to have a special knife and a special holder for it. DEEP POINT BLADE WITH HOUSING. A knife with a holder is purchased one-time, then only knives for deep cutting are purchased: DEEP POINT REPLACEMENT BLADE. I also advise you to buy a mat for cardboard CRICUT 12X12 STRONG GRIP MACHINE MAT It has a more sticky layer than the standard one.
