$249 at Amazon$289 at Walmart$300 at B&H Photo

The GoPro HERO9 Black has fantastic video and photo quality, seamless smartphone integration, top-notch editing software, and the best selection of mounts and accessories in the business. It’s also completely waterproof.

A single press of the shutter button powers this action camera on and starts recording, or you can even control it with your voice. This ease of use is what makes the GoPro a standout wearable camera pick. Plus, with its large spread of accessories and mounts, it’s incredibly easy for you to wear or attach to practically anything.

If the HERO9 Black’s price is too far out of reach, we also recommend the cheaper HERO8 Black. Just keep in mind that it has a shorter battery life, not as visually stable recordings, and lesser video quality.

The Insta360 Go is a tiny camera that’s about the size of your thumb, and it weighs a mere 0.65 ounces. It’s water-resistant and comes with clips to attach it to practically anything, whether it be a tripod, your dog’s collar, or a hat. There’s also a sticky stand that you can use to mount the camera and a magnetic pendant that allows you to wear it like a necklace.

This camera offers proprietary stabilization tech to keep your footage nice and smooth. It records high-definition video with just the press of a single button and has 60 minutes of battery life.

It’s worth mentioning that the Insta360 Go only records clips at 15, 30, or 60 seconds. But, on the plus side, its Hyperlapse mode can record longer, time-lapse-style clips.

DJI Osmo Action Wearable Camera

The DJI Osmo Action is a compelling alternative to the GoPro. The camera has a colorful and bright front screen to better frame your shots. It delivers impressive 4K 60 fps video with stabilization. There’s even an HDR video mode and the ability to shoot 12MP still photos in JPG or RAW file formats.

As you’d expect, the camera is completely waterproof. We appreciate that the camera has an integrated slow-motion feature and is compatible with a wide range of third-party mounts. If you’re planning on wearing the Osmo Action, there’s a backpack shoulder strap mount, a baseball hat mount, a chest harness, and a head strap that are all worth considering.

Spectacles 2 Wearable Camera

$150 at Amazon

These glasses offer one of the most unique ways of capturing videos. They look and feel like regular sunglasses, but allow you to capture moments hands-free. They provide fantastic video quality and clear audio but still offer extremely long battery life.

Casey Newton from The Verge said in his review that these glasses have faster download speeds, better audio, and a smaller form factor compared to the previous generation of Spectacles.

The second-generation Spectacles also have the ability to capture still photos — a feature that the previous pair lacked. The glasses are water-resistant, but not waterproof, meaning that they can handle some rain, but can’t record underwater. They also come in multiple shapes and frame sizes, and you can even have the Spectacles made to match your prescription.

This tiny, rectangular, hands-free camera works with multiple mounts that attach to your glasses, a ring, or necklace. The OPKIX One includes an egg-shaped charging case that recharges up to two cameras at a time.

Each camera weighs just 11 grams and the charging case provides six total camera charges before it needs recharging itself. Our only complaint is that each camera’s battery only lasts 12 minutes — which is rather low for a device this expensive.

But if you’re looking for the smallest and lightest wearable camera out there, this one is hard to beat. If you want to save some money, OPKIX sells a single-camera variant as well.

The YoCam is one of the most versatile wearable cameras money can buy. It weighs just 2 ounces, and it’s waterproof up to 30 feet. It’s capable of recording 2.7K video at 30 fps and able to take 8MP photos.

This wearable camera features several recording modes, including burst shot, slow-motion, delayed shot, and time-lapse. It easily attaches to your backpack strap, or it can be mounted to practically anything. Mofily has a handful of different accessories available, too.

An Affordable Wearable

SereneLife Clip-on Wearable Camera

$60 at Amazon$60 at Walmart

If you’re looking for a wearable camera on a budget, this one’s worthy of your consideration. The SereneLife comes in black, red, white, and blue, and it’s small enough to clip to your shirt. While it doesn’t capture 4K video like some of the better, more expensive cameras, it still records footage in 1080p Full HD, and it’s capable of capturing 12MP images.

It has a 1.8-inch screen for viewing and playing back footage, and it has Wi-Fi for transferring your images and videos to your smartphone for easy posting. Unfortunately, it does have a few flaws: It isn’t water-resistant, it lacks stabilization, and it doesn’t come with a MicroSD card.

In the upper right corner of the screen there is a link to the “Archive export” section. By pressing it, the user goes to the “Archives” section of the Personal Account, where all clips that the user previously ordered through the interface of the Personal Account are available and can be downloaded to a PC in the form of a ZIP archive. Filming in Paradise: Stéphane Cuschu talks about working with the FS5 camera on the island

Filmmaker, traveler and special effects artist Stéphane Cuschu makes amazingly unpredictable videos. This is one of the most popular image makers in France. His brilliant clips collect millions of views on YouTube.

    Loading video…

In November 2017, Stefan traveled to Bora Bora in French Polynesia to capture the stunning nature of this island in the Pacific Ocean. He chose the FS5 Super 35mm, our very popular model, as the main camera for shooting for 10 days due to its combination of compactness and image quality. And since Stefan loves to use the 18-105mm F4 G-series lens with 6x motorized zoom and Image Stabilizer, he extended the camera’s capabilities while traveling with Zeiss E-mount optics. To complete his shooting equipment, Stefan also brought The tiny RX0 camera is packed with cutting-edge imaging technology in a shock-resistant, waterproof housing. His Bora Bora gear was also complemented by Sony’s a7S II, with full-frame 4K video recording and incredible low-light sensitivity.

    A perfect combination

Stefan shot Full HD video that was saved directly to the FS5’s internal memory using a 128GB Sony SDXC class 10 memory card. To ensure that footage shot with different cameras looked the same, he used the Picture Profile CINE 4 image profile on both cameras: FS5 and RX0. You will hardly notice a difference when moving from underwater (RX0) to surface (FS5) shots with a boat, and then to high-altitude shooting with a drone. Thanks to competent editing, the sequence of frames looks absolutely holistic. “With CINE 4, it’s easy to achieve really beautiful colors because you have all the dynamic range at your disposal,” notes Stefan, who always shoots at the maximum bit rate of his camera. “I also created some of my own LUTs that I enjoy working with.”

This is currently the world’s best documentary flash camera.

Dynamic range was paramount when capturing fantastic shots of fire-eating on the ocean as twilight fades into darkness. “Shooting slow motion with HLG on the FS5 camera, I was able to get amazing skin tones and color reproduction.
