Looking for something larger than standard paper size? Brother provides printers and scanners for a variety of paper sizes, from letter and legal to ledger and everything in between. For those who need larger sized paper, our 11×17 printers provide high-quality, professional-looking documents. Read on to learn more about 11×17 printing and to find out how our ledger size printers can provide you with the options you’re looking for.

Whatever project you’re working on, there’s a paper size designed with your particular needs in mind. Before we explain some of the specifics about 11×17 printers, let’s take a quick look at the different sizes of paper available.

  • Letter: The most commonly used paper size, this is what you will find in most traditional printers. It has a size of 8 1/2×11 inches and is considered the standard for a variety of documents and publications.

  • Legal: As the name implies, this is the paper generally used in matters of the law. If you’re dealing with accounting, legal issues, or real estate, odds are you’re going to be using this 8 1/2×14 inch paper.

  • Tabloid/Ledger: Tabloid size printers support the bigger standard sizes of paper; a ledger size printer is commonly used for large-sized documents, measuring 11×17 inches.

  • Junior Legal: The smallest and least common standard paper size, this comes in at 5×8 inches. It is usually used to print photos, invitations and other specialized documents.

It may not be as common as legal paper or the sheets you use to print standard documents, but 11×17 paper is used in a variety of ways. Also known as ledger paper or tabloid paper, it gets its name from being the right size for a standard newspaper. This larger-sized paper is commonly used to make signs, maps, blueprints, design plans and other large images.

The Brother 5000 and 6000 all-in-one inkjet series printers can handle paper sizes up to 11×17 inches, with the 5000 inkjet series supporting ledger printing only.

For those who need an 11×17 scanner printer, our 6000 series provides you with a wide range of options that will quickly and efficiently scan, copy and fax multiple pages. You can even opt for double-sided scanning, so you don’t have to bother with flipping every single page.
And if you ever have any questions or concerns about your tabloid size printer, Brother technical support is ready and waiting to help. We’ll provide you with comprehensive care online, over the phone, or via live chat, so you can get back to producing quality documents and images of all sizes.

HP Color LaserJet Professional CP5225n Printer

HP has come a long way in printers. This one has impressive resolution and good color. It also works with 11×17 paper. As an engineer, this was a must. There are a few things you might consider: the printer cannot scan, it works over hard wire to a LAN and the second paper holder is not a tray, it is a fold out holder that works very well. On the plus side, the printer is very fast. You should consider buying the HP Support monthly plan since I’ve had great support via the telephone. HP knows the driver you should download, FYI.

HP LaserJet Enterprise M806dn Printer

We have been using HP printers for over 40 years. We find them to be state of the art, rugged, dependable, and cost efficient. Our last printer, an HP 9000, lasted 15 years and over 2 million copies. I don;t know if the new one will last that long, but it functions beautifully and has power saving features that I really like. Of course, the copies are crisp and clear, as you would expect from an HP Laserjet Printer.

HP Color LaserJet Pro 4201dw Wireless Printer

I received this printer in exchange for a review. I am a seasoned HP printer user, and have recently been using the MFP M281fdw and MFP M283fdw models at home and for my business. Set up for the HP Color Laser Jet Pro 4201dw is pretty straightforward and it was easy to connect to my home WiFi. I was able to set it up quickly on my laptop (PC). I tried a variety of types of printing, from standard one-sided to double-sided to Avery labels. Wow, this is fast! Much faster compared to my other HP printers, especially for color printing. It is supposed to do about 35 pages per minute. I think my old printers are only 22. I do a lot of printing of colored brochures and leaflets for my business and this will make things much faster! With my past HP printers, I occasionally would have issues with the printers disconnecting from my laptop, although it was sporadic. Honestly I think it had more to do with my laptop. Usually rebooting seemed to make it work again. Once in a great while I had to reset the WiFi network setup process on my printer. I haven’t used it enough to know if this will be an issue with this printer, but since I got a new laptop last year, I haven’t experienced it. So fingers crossed! Color quality is great, even with printing heavy full color pages of PowerPoint presentations. Overall very satisfied with the printer. Biggest difference for me is the speed.
