Instructions for the authors

"Weberbauerella" publishes taxonomic, floristic, physiological, ecological, economical, statistical and other accounts, provided they refer to ICN-covered organisms. It does not publish medical accounts, but descriptive, economical or ethnobotanical approaches to medicinal organisms are accepted. In order to avoid undesired papers, an anonymous medical advisor is permanenty appointed.

In order to ease rapid publication, it is strongly recommended to follow carefully the instructions. Articles submitted without the proper formatting will not be taken into account for revision process. All articles will be checked by the Scientific Editor, who will then sent it to at least two reviewers. All papers will pass through three reviews, at least. Authors may propose or solicite possible reviewers if they wish.

The standard research article may have the following parts: Title, Authors, Institutional affiliations, Abstract, Key words, Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgments and References. However, parts in bold may be renamed, merged or divided according to the article necessities. At least one abstract must be in English. The key words must not appear neither in the title nor the abstract. Up to ten key words are accepted. Other texts, as opinions issued on current topics, obituaries, editorials, etc., should have only an abstract: every other part is optional.

Articles must be written in proper English. Any standard is acceptable, as long it is used consistently. Abstracts in other languages can be included, the inclusion of abstracts in Spanish are strongly encouraged. The authors are fully responsible for the use of any language besides their own.

Please, clearly state if you have received any grant or financial support in the Acknowledgments. Anyone who may have made significant contributions to the papers should be listed as an author instead of being just acknowledged. Any conflict of interests must be disclosed at the time of the submission. References must follow the APA citation style. Most text processors have an in-built tool for managing references in such format. Common references that may be used in our journal are listed here. If you think some are missing, please, contact the editors.

Illustrations and tables must be included in the article body, within the margins. Please, use low resolution images pasted on the document for submitting. If accepted, high-resolution illustrations will be asked for. Tables and images must be referred in the text, and will be organised with bold, uppercase letters: "Table A, B, C; Figure A, B, C".

To submit an article, please, send it to the editors as a *.rtf, *.doc or *.docx file. Use Times New Roman, 12 point font throughout. The page must be A4 in size, and have 2,5 cm margins in every side. For name authorities, use standard author abbreviations (as registered in IPNI), unless you cite them as a bibliographic reference. For voucher citing, use only last names (surnames). Do not include any external reference, as hyperlinks, in your submitted files. Please, use only SI units for descriptions.

When describing new taxa, please include a diagnose in English. A diagnose is a phrase that compares two taxa in the following manner: "Taxon A is similar to taxon B, but differs from it by having characters X, Y and Z". This will make your taxon easy to identify, and will validate its publication. A diagnose is in no way a substitute for a full description, so please include one in your publication. It may be in Latin or English, but English is preferred.

A small fee is required to assure publication. The money collected will be used to pay for the services of hosting and maintenance, since we have no financial supporters. Additionally, we commit to the continual improving of the website and the indexing of the articles. The publication fee is currently of S/35 (thirty-five soles, about 10 USD) for UNALM-based researcher-students, and S/ 50 for other Peruvian scholars, to be paid after acceptance. These are introduction charges. Please, do not pay before acceptance of the manuscript, as money will not be refunded. However, it could be used to pay future publications. Foreign scholars are, for the time being, exempt of fees. Our reviewers work pro bono in order to avoid conflicts of interests. If you believe your contribution is important, but have problems to pay the fee, feel confident to write to the editors and expose your case in order to obtain a waiver. Donations are accepted, but will not affect editorial decisions.

The articles are published as *.pdf files. The published papers comply with the PDF/A archival standard (ISO 19005-1:2005). All articles are available under the CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 License. The copyright of every article belongs to its authors. The Editor-in-Chief will send to the competent database (IPNI, Tropicos, AlgaeBase, Index Nominum Algarum, Index Fungorum, MycoBank, IFPNI, among others) any nomenclatural novelties within a week.

In the case of the publication of new species or infraspecific taxa, it is MANDATORY to send a proof of the mounted type (it could be a dry or liquid sample, a cardboard-attached sample, or preserved samples), which not necessarily will appear on the article. This, in order to prevent the foundation of taxa based on fake reports. For the case of Peruvian species, the deposit of the type in a Peruvian herbarium is enforced by law. Is it suggested to deposit the holotype or an isotype in the "Augusto Weberbauer" Herbarium (MOL). Please, be sure to follow the current ICN rules in order to publish effectively.
