Show seasonal allergies who’s boss

If you suffer from seasonal allergies, now is when they are at their worst. Stock up on allergy season’s most important products to keep your home, classroom, and office allergen-free. Start with an air purifier to strip the air of allergens like pollen and pet dander and replace existing air filters for improved air quality. Frequently dust, wipe down hard surfaces, and vacuum carpets and furniture to help eliminate pollen tracked in from outside and dander left behind by pets. When leaving the house, check the pollen count and bring a face mask to help filter the air you breath outside.

No matter what you do, it’s unlikely that the symptoms of seasonal allergies can be avoided entirely. Make sure to have over-the-counter cold and allergy medications on hand to battle symptoms, and stock up on facial tissues so you’ll always have one available when you need them.

Spring (Cleaning) is in the air

Spring cleaning and decluttering is a tradition meant to refresh our spaces for the year ahead. Staples has everything you need to clear out the clutter, store and organize your belongings, and all the right cleaning supplies.

Clear out the clutter

Start by preparing a checklist and make sure you have all the necessary supplies. Use storage bins and a label maker to make sorting and organizing easier. Prepare extra boxes for donations and trash bags for the things you no longer need. Look for decorative boxes & baskets that will compliment your home’s décor and use them to organize. You can also use closet organizers and storage drawers anywhere they are needed.

Start with the basics

An all-purpose cleaner, cleaning brush and microfiber cloths will clean most surfaces. Use a duster to remove unwanted dirt and furniture polish to revitalize wood surfaces. Upgrade your broom, dustpan, wet mop, and vacuum to make cleaning any type of flooring a breeze.

The nitty gritty

Spring cleaning doesn’t stop there. There’s so much you can do to reset your home:

  • Improve air quality and eliminate pollen and pet dander with a new air purifier and an air freshener with a scent you love.
  • On a sunny day, take the opportunity to clean your windows – you’ll need glass cleaner, a bucket, a squeegee, and paper towels.
  • Have a step stool or ladder on hand to access hard-to-reach places like the tops of cabinets and overhead lighting.
  • Replace broken light bulbs and check the batteries in your smoke detectors.
  • Use drain cleaner to clear up sink and bathtub drains.

Up your printing game with a Supertank Printer

Looking for a printer with more print capacity that’s better for the environment and your wallet? Shop Staples selection of Supertank Printers for all the benefits of an inkjet printer with the convenience and savings of replacement ink bottles that last longer and cost less per page than standard inkjet printer cartridges.

Find a Supertank printer from your favorite top printer brand including:

  • HP Smart Tank & Neverstop Printers
  • Brother INKVestment Tank Printers
  • Canon MegaTank Printers
  • Epson EcoTank Printers

And don’t forget to browse Staples Ink and Toner Finder to find the right replacement ink for your new printer. No matter what printer you have, enter the brand, cartridge or printer model into the easy-to-use Ink and Toner Finder, and browse for compatible ink.

How to choose a desktop conference microphone.

Selection tips

At conferences, voice is the main way to communicate with guests. To ensure a clear and clear sound transmission, the halls are equipped with high-quality desktop microphones. How not to make a mistake with the choice and choose a device that will allow you to hear all the conference participants? Let’s try to figure it out.

Important criteria for purchasing equipment

At the conference, the most important thing is the intelligibility of speech, the absence of interference and extraneous noise. The entire process of the event depends on high-quality sound equipment. If a person constantly tries to listen and understand the speaker’s speech, the negotiations will become ineffective, many shortcomings will appear. A misinterpretation of the speaker’s words is not ruled out.

When choosing a conference microphone, consider the following:

  1. Directionality

This indicator shows the direction of sound reception and is especially important if the event takes place in a room with a high level of noise. According to the direction of the microphones are:

  • Omnidirectional – pick up sound waves from all directions, with maximum quality.
  • Bidirectional – picks up sound from front and rear. Such devices are used by journalists when interviewing.
  • Unidirectional – picks up sound waves from the front only. This type is most often used for conferences.
  1. Frequency response

It displays the frequency range over which the output signal is generated.

  1. Microphone sensitivity

This value indicates how well the microphone picks up quiet sounds. The higher it is, the better the device responds to voice.

  1. Windscreen

Conversation microphones must be equipped with a windscreen. It prevents dust particles and contaminants from getting inside the device, and also reduces background noise and other interference.

  1. Microphone type
  • Condenser – powered by electricity or built-in battery. Optimal for high-quality sound recording in the studio or at home. Record voice with virtually no distortion.
  • Dynamic – suitable for live sound in speeches and negotiations. Dynamic microphones are rugged and resistant to drops and shocks. The devices are inexpensive, do not require an additional power source, and allow you to record sound with high pressure. Dynamic microphones are optimal for conferences.
  • Electret – similar to condenser microphones, they are cheaper, more compact and highly resistant to external factors.
  1. Microphone functions

Different device models have different functions. When buying a microphone, pay attention to the following options:

  • Wireless connection. This function is not important for the conference, so its presence will be just a nice bonus. Devices without wires are needed to perform on stage, they are “powered” by batteries, and their price is higher than standard wired ones.
  • Radio system. Microphones can be equipped with receivers and other devices for work. This feature is very convenient, as it saves you from having to purchase additional accessories separately.
  • Flexible leg. Table microphones for conference rooms should be equipped with a gooseneck. It allows you to conveniently configure the device for use by the speaker.
  • Low pass filter. It reduces the level of low frequencies, thereby improving the quality of sound transmission. The low-pass filter reduces clutter, background noise, speaker breathing, and microphone strikes.
  • Stereo recording. Allows you to record the speaker’s voice. It is very convenient to be able to listen to the conference in the future.
  • Attenuator. Decreased signal level. Necessary in order to reduce the load on the equipment.
  • Sensitivity adjustment. Allows you to change the microphone settings depending on the situation.

Microphone selection for various types of rooms

  1. Small room

Small office or small meeting room with a table for no more than 6 participants, speakers are located close to each other, there is a lot of furniture in the room. For such an office, an omnidirectional microphone would be optimal. Usually the device is installed in the center of the conference table so that all participants can be heard.

For example, the GreenBean DeskVoice E10 mounts easily to horizontal surfaces and has an omnidirectional pattern.

  1. Standard Conference Room

Typically, these rooms are designed for no more than 15 participants. They can be equipped with ventilation systems, air conditioners, often a strong echo is formed. Such rooms require devices with a large coverage and the ability to connect additional devices. They must be equipped with echo cancellation and volume control.

For conference rooms, it is recommended to use one omnidirectional microphone or one unidirectional device per participant. Boya BY-MC2 has a range of up to 6 meters, so it will give you the opportunity to hear every speaker at the event. The model fits perfectly into the interior and will not distract attention.

Today’s best Intel Hades Canyon NUC (8i7HVK) deals

No price information

For more information visit their website

There are a handful of gaming-capable mini PCs out there, but most are significantly compromised when it comes to performance. The Intel NUC8i7HVK (also known as the Intel Hades Canyon NUC or NUC Enthusiast 8) could be one of the first machines to buck that trend, and the best mini PC for gaming.

Powered by Intel’s powerful new Kaby Lake G hybrid processor, the new NUC ($799 starting, $999 as reviewed) manages to squeeze out comparable performance to an entry-level gaming tower from a chassis that’s about the size of a book. The Hades Canyon NUC’s impressive power and customizable RGB lighting make it an enticing mini PC option for gamers, though it’ll run you quite a bit of cash once you factor in the cost of the RAM, SSD and operating system you’ll need to buy for this bare-bones PC.

Editor’s Note: (March 26, 2021) We periodically update our reviews to make sure that pricing and information is up to date. Our rating and recommendation for the Intel Hades Canyon NUC review remains unchanged from when it originally published in March of 2018.

Like Intel’s previous gaming-minded NUCs, the new Hades Canyon model is a small, black brick that you can easily toss in your bag or slide into your entertainment center.

At just 8.7 x 5.6 x 1.5 inches, it’s notably bigger than the Kangaroo Plus Mobile Desktop (4.9 x 3.2 x 0.5 inches) but much slimmer and shorter than the Alienware Alpha (7.9 x 7.9 x 2.2 inches). It’s a fraction of the size of a game console and will barely make a dent on your desk.

The Hades Canyon looks unassuming — until you turn it on, that is. Once powered, the NUC emits a striking, skull-shaped glow out of its top panel. Using the included LED Manager app, you can customize both the skull and eyes to glow any color you like, as well as set the lights to breathe in and out or pulsate quickly.

The Hades Canyon looks unassuming — until you turn it on.

You can also tweak the colors of the PC’s front-facing lights and set them to correspond with specific things, such as whether your power plug or Ethernet cord is connected. Want to disable the LEDs completely? You can do that, too. The NUC’s RGB options are very robust for a PC of this size, and I appreciate that the skull is LED-based and not etched into the design like it was on the previous Skull Canyon model.

Intel Hades Canyon NUC: Ports

Despite its small size, the Hades Canyon NUC is absolutely loaded with ports. The mini PC features two USB 3.0 ports, a USB-C port, an SD card slot and a 3.5mm audio jack up front, as well as a front-facing HDMI port for easy VR setup.

In the back, you’ll find four USB 3.0 ports, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, two Ethernet ports and an optical audio jack. You’ll also find two mini DisplayPort 1.2 ports, as well as an HDMI port, giving you plenty of options for connecting to your monitors.

Intel Hades Canyon NUC: What’s included

The Intel Hades Canyon NUC is a bare-bones system, meaning all you get out of the box is the PC’s Intel Core i7-8009G/AMD Radeon RX Vega M GH hybrid chip. You’ll have to supply your own memory, storage and operating system.

MORE: The Best All-in-One Computers

For the purpose of this review, Intel supplied us with a 512GB Intel 545s series SSD ($139), an Intel Optane SSD 800P ($115), two units of HyperX 8GB DDR4-3200 RAM ($94 each) and a new copy of Windows 10 ($119). Naturally, costs will vary based on what you decide to put into your NUC, but the price of those parts combined with our $999 review unit totals out to about $1,400 for a fully configured system.

Intel Hades Canyon NUC: Gaming performance

The new NUC’s big calling card is its 8th-Gen Intel Core i7 with Radeon RX Vega M processor (also known as Kaby Lake G), which combines a traditional Intel CPU with discrete AMD graphics, all within a single chip.

This design is meant to provide desktop-gaming-grade performance within a mobile-size CPU, and if our time with NUC is any indication, it succeeds strongly on that front. Our NUC turned in comparable performance to what you’d get out of an entry-level, Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti-powered gaming tower, and it even handled a bit of VR.

Intel’s PC ran our Hitman benchmark (1080p, max settings) at an impressive 59 frames per second, besting Lenovo’s compact Legion Y720 Cube desktop (52, Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti) but falling short of our 87-fps gaming desktop average.

The NUC tied the Legion on our Grand Theft Auto V test (1080p, max settings), with both PCs turning in a highly playable 33 fps while trailing our 82-fps average.

Intel’s tiny desktop can handle virtual reality, but don’t expect an  optimal experience. The NUC scored a 4.6 out of 11 on the SteamVR Performance Test, netting it a “medium” grade. This means it’s capable of churning out VR, but not recommended for the highest-fidelity experience.

In synthetic tests, the NUC scored a 8,451 on the 3DMark Fire Strike benchmark. That puts the NUC above the Legion (6,166), but way below our 14,070 average.

Intel Hades Canyon NUC: Performance

The Intel Core i7-8809G CPU proved just as capable for everyday multitasking as it was for gaming.

The NUC netted a 17,683 on the Geekbench 4.1 overall performance test, topping the Legion Y720 (8,110; Intel Core i3-7100U) while trailing our 18,238 category average.

MORE: The Best Computers That Can Fit in Your Hand

The 512GB Intel 545s series SSD that came with our unit proved zippy, copying roughly 5GB of files in 16 seconds, for a rate of 310 MB per second. That scorches the score for the Legion’s 1TB hard drive (69 MBps), but just misses our 343-MBps gaming average.

Intel Hades Canyon NUC: Configurations

The Hades Canyon NUC comes in two varieties: a $799 configuration aimed at content creators and a $999 option that’s VR-ready and overclockable. Both models feature a Core i7 Kaby Lake G CPU, but the former features Radeon RX Vega M GL graphics (comparable to an Nvidia GTX 1050), while the later sports Radeon RX Vega M GH graphics (comparable to an Nvidia GTX 1060 Max Q).

The Intel NUC ships with a three-year warranty.

Intel Hades Canyon NUC: Verdict

The Hades Canyon NUC is an excellent showpiece for the potential of Kaby Lake G, offering mi-range gaming performance and respectable VR capabilities within an absolutely tiny chassis. The customizable RGB lighting is a nice added touch, and the system’s plethora of ports make it ideal for command centers and living rooms alike.

However, the NUC’s performance comes at a high price. Once you take the highest-end, VR-ready nook and add in your own memory, storage and operating system, you’re looking at up to $1,400 in total. That’s not exactly the best value, considering you can get a comparably powerful and fully featured tower, such as the Lenovo Legion Y720 Cube, for as little as $599. Still, if you’re a mini PC enthusiast who doesn’t mind splurging on a bare-bones system, you’ll find some killer performance tucked away inside Intel’s unassuming NUC.

As mini PCs go, “mini” can come in two flavors: desktops small enough to put into a backpack, or PCs that can fit into a hip pocket and be carried with your keys. The Azulle Access3 ($234 alone, or $264 in a bundle) is definitely in the latter camp, with a compact design that’s smaller than most candy bars, yet powerful enough for browsing the web or streaming 4K videos from Netflix.

We loved the previous model that we saw in 2017, the Azulle Access Plus, and the Access3 manages to deliver an even better experience in the same small package. The tiny PC boasts a stylish, fanless design, with a faster processor and better port selection, making it one of the best mini PCs — and indeed, one of the best computers period — on the market. In fact, it’s so good that it won a recommendation for best mini PC in our Tom’s Guide Awards 2021.

Stick PC designs have more or less stayed the same since the form factor was introduced in 2015, and the Azulle Access3 looks nearly identical to its predecessor from 2017, the Azulle Access Plus. The candy-bar dimensions measure the same 5.5 x 2.36 x 0.76 inches, and the surface of the stick PC is grooved, with a pattern of concentric circles. The compact design is still the most elegant of any stick PC we’ve seen, and even rivals some of our favorite mini PC designs, like the Ockel Sirius B Black Cherry’s star-chart-imprinted heatsink.

The tiny chassis uses a fanless cooling design, so there are no internal moving parts, and an external Wi-Fi antenna provides better wireless connectivity than most stick PCs can deliver.

Azulle Access3 (Image credit: Azulle)

On one end is an HDMI connector, for plugging directly into a monitor or TV, and on the other end is a thicker section of chassis that offers a good grip for plugging and unplugging the device. That thicker end also provides more width to accommodate a full-size Gigabit Ethernet port.

Ports

For such a tiny system, the Azulle Access3 has a surprisingly rich selection of ports, with an HDMI 2.0 output to handle video and audio, two USB 3. 0 ports, a microSD card slot for expanding storage, a 3.5 mm audio jack and a Gigabit Ethernet jack.

Image 1 of 3

Azulle Access3 (Image credit: Azulle)Azulle Access3 (Image credit: Azulle)Azulle Access3 (Image credit: Azulle)

While the overall port selection is similar to what we saw on the previous Azulle Access Plus, the Ethernet port gets a bump up from the 10/100 mbps connection of the 2017 model to Gigabit speed, and the USB ports are both 3.0, instead of one slower USB 2.0 port.

MORE: Best Mini PCs 2019

It’s also a significant improvement over competitors like the Lenovo IdeaCentre Stick 300, which had only one USB port, and the Access3 doesn’t require additional dongles for basic connectivity the way the Zotac Zbox PI225 pico does.

Configurations

The diminutive Access3 comes in a few different versions, differentiated by the memory and storage options. The base model has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space.

The next step up is our review model, which has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space. Another version offers 4GB with 64GB of storage.

One additional option is also available, which has 6GB of memory and a 32GB eMMC drive for storage.

Performance

The compact Access3 is equipped with a quad-core Intel Gemini Lake Celeron N4100 processor, clocked at 1.1GHz and paired with 4GB of RAM. While low-powered Celeron and Atom processors are the norm for this class of PC, this CPU will support the 64-bit version of Windows 10 Pro, which is not always guaranteed in this style of system. The Lenovo IdeaCentre Stick 300, for example, was limited to a 32-bit version, thanks to its Intel Atom Z3735F processor and 2GB of memory.

Azulle Access3 (Image credit: Azulle)

In actual use, the Access3 supports a decent level of web browsing, handling up to eight browser tabs without slowing down. But performance dropped off once I opened up a ninth tab. It will also handle 4K video at 30Hz, making it well suited for home theater use. However, you’ll want to run that video from connected storage instead of streaming over Wi-Fi, which can often bottleneck the video performance.

MORE: Best Streaming Devices 2019

In our main performance benchmark, Geekbench 4, the Access3 scored 4,541 points. That leads the competition by a huge margin, with the older Azulle Access Plus (2017) scoring 2,401 points with an older Atom processor (Intel Atom x5-Z8350, 4GB of RAM), and handily beating the Ockel Sirius B Black Cherry (2,283, with an Atom x5-Z8350, 4GB of RAM) and the Zotac Zbox PI225 pico (1,475 points, with an Intel Celeron N3350 and 4GB of memory).

In our older Open Office spreadsheet macro test, the Access3 crunched a giant dataset, pairing tens of thousands of names and addresses in 7 minutes and 33 seconds. Although that may not sound particularly impressive, it’s a record setter in the mini PC world, where the Ockel Sirius B Black Cherry (18:50) and the Zotac Zbox PI225 pico (21:55) took much, much longer. The closest result, in fact, was the Azulle Access Plus (16:47), which still trailed by nearly 9 minutes.

The only area where the Access3 didn’t set a new bar for performance was in our file- transfer test, where the stick PC took 3 minutes and 3 seconds to move a 4.97GB file, at a rate of 27.81 Mbps. While that’s not the worst performance we’ve seen in this test – the Ockel Sirius B Black Cherry falls a half step behind it at 24.35 MBps – it’s still slower than we’ve seen on other pocket-size PCs, like the Zotac Zbox PI225 pico (45.04 MBps) or the Azulle Access Plus (2017) (41.04 MBps).

However, graphics performance put it back on top again, ripping through the 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited benchmark with a score of 27,404 at 1080p settings. That’s a drastic improvement over the Zotac Zbox PI225 pico (13,462) and the 2017 Azulle Access Plus (18,805), and the difference in performance will be seen in better video streams and quicker graphics rendering.

Accessories

The Access 3 has two USB ports, providing enough connectivity for a wired keyboard and mouse, or even a wireless keyboard/mouse combination, like the Logitech K600. But Azulle also offers its own keyboard accessory, the Lynk Windows Multifunctional Remote Control ($29.99), putting a couch-friendly spin on the wireless keyboard by cramming it into a form that’s more like your TV remote control. It’s also broadly compatible with many devices. Since it connects via wireless USB dongle, the Lynk will also work with game consoles, set top boxes and any other Windows PC.

Lynk Multi-functional Remote Control (Image credit: Azulle)

On the front of the keyboard remote are several remote-control buttons, which offer functionality similar to what you’d get on any smart-TV remote control: A directional pad for navigation, volume control buttons, home button and a play/pause button for controlling video playback. There’s a microphone button for voice interaction, a power button and a contextual menu button.

There are also several unique buttons, with functions you might not see elsewhere, such as the right and left mouse buttons, which can be used with a gesture mouse that lets you point the remote at the TV and move your cursor with a waggle of the remote control. It’s similar to the motion control offered on the remote that comes with LG Smart TVs. Aside from mouse options, there’s also a Windows button and a button that turns on the tiny QWERTY keyboard on the back.

That’s right, this handheld remote control packs a small, thumb-friendly keyboard, letting you enter text quickly and perform simple keyboard shortcuts without having to get up off the couch. It’s also backlit, with the letters glowing bright blue when lit.

The keyboard is a welcome addition, especially for anyone who needs more traditional computer functions when the mini PC is connected to a TV. Entering text on the keyboard’s soft rubber buttons is definitely better than most of the awkward on-screen keyboards I’ve used.

MORE: 11 Cheap Keyboards (Under $20) Ranked from Best to Worst

But the rest of the remote is a less satisfying experience. The design isn’t especially comfortable to hold, and the various Windows functions grafted onto the remote control feel a bit disjointed. The whole thing feels like a stopgap measure, and while it’s an honest attempt at bringing users a full keyboard and mouse capability in a more TV-esque environment, it just serves to drive home how essential a real keyboard and mouse can be.

As the follow-up to our favorite stick PC, we had high expectations for the Azulle Access3. And yet, the slim mini PC managed to exceed most of those, thanks to a zippier processor, faster port selection and a design that didn’t change any of the things we loved the first time. Although we weren’t thrilled about the slower transfer speeds or the clunky keyboard/remote combo, the Access3 still claims the top spot as our favorite stick PC.

Compared with the 2017 Azulle Access Plus, the new model Access3 blazed past it with faster performance, better video-handling and an improved port selection – no small task when you’ve only got one or two square inches of space for any ports at all. And compared with other pocket-size mini PCs, like the Ockel Sirius B Black Cherry or the credit-card-size Zotac Zbox PI225 pico, it boasts an even larger margin of performance, and packs it all into a smaller package.

Whether it’s for use in your home theater, powering digital signage or just giving you a way to watch Netflix on your hotel TV, the Azulle Access3 is our new favorite stick PC.

Great desk ideas for small spaces

In small rooms it is always difficult to find a place to place a full-fledged desktop. Sometimes even a situation arises when there is simply nowhere to place it due to the need to install other furniture. In this case, compact, but at the same time very comfortable tables come to the rescue, which fit perfectly into the smallest free corners.

Take a look at these few great solutions for small spaces, maybe you’ll find the table that’s right for you.

A great idea for a small room is a small table without legs, which can be conveniently placed between the cabinet and the wall.

With wooden panels attached to the wall with metal brackets, you can organize a comfortable workspace for two people.

One of the best options for small spaces is a folding table that folds up when needed and takes up almost no space.

A handy and functional table can be easily made by hand: just place the wooden panel on two identical cabinets.

Instead of installing a bulky desk with legs, consider attaching some wooden panels to the wall.

In small rooms, bulky and dark pieces of furniture draw attention to themselves and visually reduce the space, so why not make them invisible, like these stylish transparent desktops.

In rooms with a non-standard arrangement of windows, in a space that could remain unused, you can organize a small work area.

You can build your own narrow work table using natural wood and strong metal fasteners.

One of the best options for small rooms is a folding table that takes up no space at all when folded.

Hinged wooden panel that folds out in just a few seconds, turning into a comfortable desktop.

A desktop that turns into a bar counter in one minute: unusual, stylish and comfortable!

A metal frame with open shelves, one of which can act as a work surface, will look great in a small room.

Surprisingly, the desktop can be hidden in an ordinary built-in wardrobe! A great option for those who don’t want to clutter up their bedroom.

Antique furniture creates a special atmosphere in the house and is ideal even for modern interiors.

The small side table can be used both as a work area and as a storage shelf.

A unique portable table made from copper pipes and a wooden panel to help organize your workspace anywhere in your home.

A light table on narrow, almost invisible legs will not attract much attention, and shelves installed on the sides will help optimize the space in the room.

90 078 How to choose a desk

Before buying furniture, you need to collect all the necessary information about it. Interior designer Igor Samodin told Komsomolskaya Pravda how to choose a desk that will help you work or study at home. Igor advises paying attention to details.

Materials

The first thing to talk about is what the top and bases are made of. It can be one material, or different. Classics for countertops and bases – MDF and chipboard. Both are budget, although, of course, depends on the components. It is believed that MFD will last longer, but chipboard can also be reliable.

The bases are available in metal. With them, the table will cost more, but it is a more reliable option. He is, as they say, stronger on his feet.

Table tops are made of glass and plastic. The first is a very interesting and strong option. True, there is a risk of chips. The latter also look fashionable, but sometimes they can have a specific smell.

Add-ons and drawers

It’s a matter of taste and necessity. Someone just needs a table – a base and a table top. Some people need additions. In particular, all sorts of shelves where you can place documents, books, computer accessories. If you plan to use a computer on your desk, then a keyboard drawer might not be superfluous either. The main thing to consider when buying a desk with add-ons is whether it will fit with you. On the other hand, if the tables are made to order, then you can specify yourself what add-ons and additions you need.

Functionality

Here, in principle, we are also talking about drawers and other accessories. If you need them, then take this model. In addition, there are folding tables, which, if the owner wishes, can become larger. There are desks that provide two jobs – also a very interesting model. Some have cutouts – for a monitor, a system unit, and so on. In addition, someone may need to move the table often – it is more convenient to take models on wheels here. And some modern tables provide for height adjustment.

Hanging box can be used as a comfortable working area.

The Secretlab Titan is the benchmark by which we judge all other gaming chairs. To earn that role it ticked all the boxes you could ask of gaming furniture: it’s comfy, supportive, and importantly looks great too. None of that has changed with the new Secretlab Titan Evo 2022, either, though it does pack a few great new features to keep ahead of the pack.

Rather than tread old ground, let’s get right into the new stuff. Secretlabs is posing the new Titan Evo 2022 to a wider audience this time, with three new available sizes of the Titan Evo 2022 available. These are small, regular, and extra large. The benefit of this being you’ll no longer need to look to a different model of chair to find the right fit—the Titan Evo 2022 should cover most bases.

On a similar note, Secretlab has added a minor curve to the seat base that it says is to keep you in a healthy sitting posture. It’s kind of hard to say whether such a gentle curvature is really doing much to keep me locked securely in place throughout the day, though the seat is plenty comfortable all the same with plenty of foam padding.

That’s far from the last upgrade to the Titan Evo, however, and the chair I received for review is plastered head-to-toe in something new and shiny: Neo Hybrid Leatherette. This is a blend of resin laminate and polyurethane-microfibre, which Secretlab says is far hardier than your average PU leather or even the Prime 2.0 material it previously used.

Titan Evo 2022 specs

Sizes: S (150–169 cm / <90kg), R (170–189 cm / <100kg), XL (181–205 cm / 80–180kg)
Fabric: either leatherette, SoftWeave, or leather
Recline: up to 165°
Warranty: 3-year (extendable to 5-year)
Armrests: 4D adjustment
Price: starting at $449|£379

I’ll have to get back to you on actual durability when I’ve had longer with the chair, perhaps when the Titan Evo 2024 comes out I can tell you if it truly stands the test of time. Still, I can note how surprisingly airy and cool the leatherette fabric feels over the course of a day, and it certainly looks absolutely stunning.

In fact, the chair is upholstered immaculately. While there’s still something to be said for the SoftWeave Plus fabric we’ve rated best for durability and comfort all these years, I have to say I’m quite taken with the look of the leatherette, and especially the bright red stitching.

Fabric choice aside, though, any chair worth its salt excels in one thing and one thing only: comfort. That’s something the Titan Evo 2022 is adept at delivering. Initially I had felt the Secretlab a little too firm for my taste, which meant I was shifting my weight around a fair bit during the day. Within a week or so of using it, though, I came to find a comfortable seating position that felt natural. Since then, I’ve been able to largely forget about the chair altogether.

That may sound like an insult, but it’s quite the opposite. I’ve used chairs in the past that have pain points—areas or seating positions that make you wish for anything else over the course of an eight hour day—yet with the Titan Evo 2022 I’ve had no such thing.

A big part of that is the adjustable lumbar support, and it’s a pretty neat system in the Titan Evo. It works by extending and retracting an internal support both in and out and up and down, through the use of the two dials on the side. So not only are you not relying on an awkward pillow to prop up your back, you can actually tweak the Titan Evo’s lumbar support while you’re still sat on it. This makes it exceptionally easy to get just right.

Paired with the head support and you’ve a comfortable and supportive combination.

The head cushion might actually be my favourite upgrade with the Titan Evo 2022. That’s because it’s magnetic.

It’s a strikingly simple idea, and that’s why it’s so useful. To attach the head cushion, you just whack it onto the top of the chair and it sticks there through the mysterious power of magnets. It’s a clever solution to a problem I didn’t know I had, but nonetheless far preferable to fiddly straps.

Image 1 of 3

Actually, the arm rests and covers for the hinges on the side of the Titan Evo are also magnetic. That means it’s all easily replaceable and makes for easy installation.

And on the topic of armrests, Secretlab delivers full 4D movement with the Titan Evo. That’s a succinct way of saying its armrests move up, down, forwards, backwards, side-to-side, and rotate. What you really need to know is that the armrests are highly user-customisable and should fit most desks, as I’ve found them to so far, and the action on the movement feels exceptionally high quality.

As an amalgamation of both Titan and Omega gaming chairs, the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 feels the better of both in every regard.

As do the more mechanical parts on the chair. The hydraulics maintain a smooth action all the way down, and the recline acts as it should with little fuss. There’s also a tension adjustment for the lean function, which allows you to tweak the recline that much further as you depress back into the chair.

So there’s a lot to like about the Titan Evo 2022. That said, the truest test of its competency is the one I laid out at the beginning of this review. To succeed it needed to top the benchmark set by its predecessors, the Secretlab Titan and Omega. These are chairs that have ranked as number one and two in our best gaming chair guide for years.

It’s safe to say that it’s done so with flying colours.

As an amalgamation of both Titan and Omega gaming chairs, the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 feels the better of both in every regard. What each chair has done so well, the Titan Evo 2022 manages to equal or better. It is slightly pricier than its predecessors at $449 ($499 for the XL model), but I feel that the upgrades it delivers are genuinely worth the higher price tag.

I’ll be honest, the first thing to enter my mind when I heard about the Herman Miller x Logitech G Embody was the price. It’s a $1,595 (£1,195) gaming chair and that’s understandably a tall request to make for most of us. If you balk at the concept of dropping that much of your hard-earned cash—that’s gaming PC money, after all—there are plenty of cheaper alternatives in our best gaming chair guide to consider.

Herman Miller, however, is a brand built on the concept that ergonomics are something that should be invested in. And that seems to mean more than a lumbar pillow and a faux-racing chair aesthetic. The Embody is far more modest. It’s instead banking on people gladly spending a chunk of change on comfort and stellar ergonomics. So I’ve headed into this review with that in the forefront of my mind, and tried to consider why you might wish to spend the cost of a second-hand car on a gaming chair, and whether you will come away feeling like you got your money’s worth.

I’ll admit that wasn’t an easy task for someone who instinctively sees a £1,200 chair and thinks “too much”. But times have changed, and after the year we’ve had, the price doesn’t seem so crazy—even before I lay my posterior on it. Working from home, and spending all but a fraction of the day sitting down, a comfortable chair that I trust with custody of my spine has become a necessity.

A chair that champions complete support above all else is more interesting to me now than ever before. And that’s regardless of the Logitech collaboration, which mostly seems to be a branding exercise to entice gamers to consider a high end throne, rather than one of the bucket seats so beloved of streamers.

Yet I wasn’t sure what to expect of the Embody before it arrived. I certainly hadn’t envisioned such a massive box turning up on my doorstep. First impressions, then, entirely focused on how I was going to get said box up two flights of narrow steps leading up to my apartment.

Herman Miller Embody specs

Weight limit: 136 kg
Total Height: 1067–1143 mm
Material: Sync Fabric (polyester), foam layer
Warranty: 12-year, 24-hour
MSRP: $1,445 (£1,195)

That massive box hides what is perhaps one of the Herman Miller’s best features. After deciding that I had to cut the chair out of the box with a knife in my hallway, I discovered a chair fully assembled and wrapped in little more than some clever cardboard. There’s absolutely no fussing with screws or throwaway tools required, which is something of a pet peeve of mine. (‘m amassing third-rate Allen keys from cheap flatpack furniture and I can’t help but feel there’s got to be a better way.)

Perhaps Herman Miller’s onto something here, then—premium packaging without the assembly work. We’re certainly off to a good start when it comes to feeling like a lux chair, but short-lived success on receipt of delivery is hardly what you’ve paid good money for.

The Embody chair itself is actually rather compact. There’s no towering headrest to speak of—Herman Miller says an ergonomic chair done right needn’t have one—and the slim body-fitting backrest and small frame make for an overall design that’s dwarfed by the Cooler Master Ergo L I had been using previously.

(Image credit: Herman Miller, Logitech G)

In spite of its compact design, the Embody does feature a wide seat without any outer extrusions to keep you bolted in. An important abstention for all-day comfort, I assure you. The seat is made up of a couple sprung meshes supporting a matte and foam cushion design covered in, what Herman Miller calls, Sync Fabric. Essentially it’s a 100% polyester fabric that Herman Miller rates for its durability, colour retention, and strength. You really want to be sure it’s ready to stand the test of time, and while I can’t say how it will hold up over a decade of wear, it’s not yet shown a single sign of damage yet.

For the most part the Herman Miller x Logitech G Embody actually isn’t a complete departure from the Embody of old. A tried, tested, and widely recognised design, the gaming Embody comes in a new black and blue colourway, with plain black also available if you’re going for a more sober/edgelord look. There’s also a small Logitech G brand toggle on the rear, that doesn’t serve any purpose that I know of, and a Logitech G logo across the upper band of the backrest.

Again, I’m not sure the Logitech collab is bringing a lot to the party, but the branding is notably light touch next to the racing style gaming chairs that we’re used to as PC gamers, and it feels classy as a result.

A foam layer within the seat is actually one of the few functional differences between the Embody and Logitech G Embody. It’s said to add a little more support while sitting bolt upright, and intended to keep your rear cool. Speaking from experience it’s deceivingly comfortable over prolonged use, although it’s tough to say whether it adds much beyond the original model.

It’s the most immediately noticeable trait of this chair: You can sit in it all day and not feel a moment of discomfort beneath your tush. You may shift around your top half into all sorts of absolutely not ergonomic positions during the day but your bottom half tends to stay stuck in place at a desk, so it’s important to get that just right. Thankfully, the Embody does.

The side of the chair you don’t often get to see. (Image credit: Future)

When you are sitting correctly in the chair, which Herman Miller will tell you how to do in its promotional videos (tip: feet forward and flat on the floor), the back rest is wonderfully supportive. It offers a little give and take thanks to a construction of sprawling supports that span the rear of the chair, and connected to the main column of the backrest at just a few pivotal points.

Free and easy ergo tips!

There is a lot you can do to improve your PC desk and setup to be healthier and more comfortable without spending a penny. Take a look at our guide to how to sit at a desk with good posture for the precautions you can put in place today.

While some chair designers may use ergonomics as an excuse for their weirdest and wildest designs, the Embody is relatively reserved in design and operation. The lack of headrest case and point, but the lack of extensive movement in the armrests is further testament to Herman Miller’s ‘we know best’ approach.

Luckily you needn’t be overtly conscious of your posture at all times to get the most out the Embody. So long as you’re not straddling it in a vein attempt to get ‘down with the kids’ you’ll probably find it as passively comfortable as I have.

Functionally, then, the Herman Miller Embody is excellent. You’d expect nothing less for a whopping $1,595 (£1,195). Is that alone enough to warrant the price tag? It’s still not an easy decision. Where the Herman Miller gains favour is when you factor in the too easily dismissed 12-year warranty.

A 12-year warranty for a £1,195 chair makes for easy maths: a touch under £100 a year. The warranty is extensive, too. It covers 24-hour use (three shifts in bleak corpo speak, eight hours a piece) and covers just about everything: pneumatics, casters, armrests, you name it. Some surface-grade damage to the fabric might not net you a new chair, but you’re effectively covered for everything else for over a decade.

This toggle serves no purpose that I’m aware of. Branding 101. (Image credit: Future)

With that, the price tag becomes more easily understood. I’m not saying it’s going to swing anyone initially shaken to their core by that price tag’s four digits, but those on the fence may feel significantly more confident in the longevity of their new gaming chair purchase with the warranty factored in. That warranty is something rarely replicated by other gaming chair brands, either. From searching the top chairs from our roundup only a few came close to a 12-year, all-in standard warranty. That’s the Mavix M9 and Steelcase Gesture. Both of which follow the task chair approach to gaming thrones.

Both are a little cheaper than the Herman Miller, however, and both have their proponents in PC Gamer’s top brass. Certainly worth checking out these two, often found for less than the Embody, before hitting the checkout.

Without resting my rear in either, however, I must judge the Herman Miller by its merit, and the 12-year warranty that tipped this chair for me. By far the most expensive I’ve reviewed, it’s also the one I feel oozes premium comfort and support. With a 12-year warranty making sure that stellar experience never dampens, not even a little, it’s easy to see why Herman Miller has the premium office chair market largely wrapped up.

Does said Herman Miller X Logitech G Embody necessitate the gaming chair title over its not-so-humble office origins? Perhaps not, it still feels like that same Embody as before with a few extras that aren’t easily distinguishable in action. Yet, if anything, this chair is proof that little need be done to replicate Herman Miller’s success for those of us that prefer gaming on a PC as opposed to working at one.

When he’s not writing about GPUs and CPUs, however, you’ll find him trying to get as far away from the modern world as possible by wild camping.

What is the difference between a gaming chair and an office chair?

Sitting in a cozy rocking chair you can read your favorite book, in a massive soft chair you can watch TV, and sitting in a cool gaming chair you can master a new stage of your favorite game or immerse yourself in work without being distracted by anything.

In the past few years, there has been a steady trend in buying gaming chairs for work – whether at home or in the office. Why do people who spend a lot of time at the computer begin to prefer a gaming chair more often than an office chair. What is the difference between these models? Let’s find out!

Only in motion the load on the body is distributed evenly. Due to physical activity, the body can fully perform its functions. When sitting in a chair for a long time, everything turns out exactly the opposite.

If a person’s body is in a sitting position for a long time, the load goes to the spine. Remember, sitting in a chair, you had a desire to lean on something with your back! It’s all because of the wrong load! In a sitting position, the back quickly gets tired, nerves and blood vessels are clamped, and blood circulation is disturbed. As a result, health problems in the future in the form of a curvature of the spine and pinched nerves. Constant discomfort will distract from work or play.

Designers of chairs take into account these nuances when making play models. Each new generation of chairs is produced more perfect in order to minimize the load on our body. Yes, such chairs are more expensive than office chairs, but in terms of health, they justify themselves.

Distinctive characteristics of a gaming chair from an office chair:

1) Anatomical seat that follows the contours of the body and guarantees the correct support of the entire body – from the pelvis to the cervical region. Such a seat will securely fix the entire spine in the correct position, unload the muscles and will not interfere with normal blood circulation.

2) Presence of lumbar cushion and headrest. A special roller in the form of a curved pillow will support the lumbar region, preventing the appearance of pain. A comfortable headrest will relieve tension from the neck during short breaks.

3) Customization – built-in mechanisms for adjusting the chair, allowing you to customize it “for yourself”. And in an office chair, you can only adjust the height. Gaming models delight with the ability to adjust the angle of the backrest, the height of the armrests. The swing mechanism will please, and the ability to recline the back up to 180 degrees. You can take into account any parameters and features of the human body. The more such functions, the more comfortable the chair.

4) Durable upholstery, e.g. eco-leather. Textile-based material has a durable polyurethane coating. Its convenience and durability has been tested by many hours of gaming tournaments.

5) Reliable components. During intense game moments, the stability of the chair does not always withstand. And when developing gaming chairs, reinforced components are used, as well as a dense filler. The frame of such a chair will be all-metal, which will make it significantly heavier, but at the same time provide a margin of safety. Such products can withstand loads up to 120 kg. You will not find this feature in an office chair.

We have shown you the main distinguishing characteristics of gaming and office models. And what kind of chair you and your body need is up to you!

Image 1 of 6

(Image credit: Secretlab)(Image credit: Secretlab)(Image credit: Secretlab)(Image credit: Secretlab)(Image credit: Secretlab)(Image credit: Secretlab)

Herman Miller x Logitech G Embody Gaming Chair

The Herman Miller Embody oozes premium—you’d expect nothing less at this price. With superb comfort and a warranty spanning over a decade, it’s absolutely the chair of choice if you’re willing to invest in ergonomics.

Image 1 of 6

(Image credit: Future)(Image credit: Future)(Image credit: Future)

(Image credit: Future)(Image credit: Future)(Image credit: Future)

Secretlab Titan Evo 2022

The Titan Evo 2022 is Secretlab firing on all cylinders. It’s a wonderfully comfortable chair for long periods of working or gaming and clever new features such as a magnetic head rest put it a cut above the rest.

Computer chairs, office chairs cheap

For productive work, a person needs to feel comfortable. In today’s world, most people spend a lot of time at the computer. Someone works, someone studies, and someone plays 24 hours a day, so it is very important to have a high-quality and comfortable computer chair. In our assortment you will find a wide and varied selection of these chairs. While looking for an office chair, you will be offered options such as chairs for visitors, chairs for managers and staff. In addition, we offer a variety of children’s and gaming chairs, in which you can adjust the depth, height, armrests, angle and much more, which makes it possible to adapt the chair to any person. Proper organization of the workplace is the key to good performance and high productivity. Therefore, if you have a sedentary job or activities related to working on a computer, you need to have a comfortable office chair .

Nowadays, manufacturers offer a wide range of computer chairs that have different purposes, shapes and appearance. In our assortment you will find the following options:

Office chairs

These chairs can be divided into three categories:

  • visitor chairs . Any company that works with a large number of clients should have a well-maintained area for visitors. Most often, comfortable chairs with legs or skids are chosen for this;
  • staff chairs . The main criterion for choosing these chairs is ergonomics and comfort, so that long-term sitting on them does not cause discomfort and pain in the back or neck;
  • executive chair . Most often, this is an expensive and presentable chair completely made of leather or with wooden inserts, which has a high back and an increased level of comfort.

Child seats

When furnishing a child’s room, it is necessary to approach the organization of the workplace with special care. Children are growing organisms, so it’s very important to choose the right computer chair that won’t cause bad posture. Here you can purchase these chairs with an orthopedic back, an ergonomic seat, the ability to adjust the height, with or without armrests, and other options.

Gaming chairs

For those who cannot imagine their life without computer games, manufacturers have also invented special gaming chairs. They have an original design, high stability and adjustment to the characteristics of the human body.
